About the job

As a Windows Systems Development Engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers who provide direct support to United States Government customers. You will administer critical Windows-based Workstations and Servers to ensure they are fully functioning and secure in support of the Google team working in the Google Operations Center.

You will be entrusted to maintain and control access to the networks, and troubleshoot technical problems with a mix of networking, system administration, and documentation. You will help drive the success of Google Cloud by ensuring a secure, stable and reliable Operations Center, while advocating for our customers’ and operator needs. You will develop cloud infrastructure and service based solutions that will bring Google Cloud Infrastructure and Services closer to where data is being generated and consumed. This role requires an on-call rotation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-call activities and manage the systems within the domain and work with the primary responders to help fix system issues, and ensure day to day operations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, evaluate technical data, and develop recommendations for systems and services within the domain, respond to tickets/bugs within team-defined service-level objectives (SLOs), and contribute to systems and services in related domains through bug reports and consultation.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation. Evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Manage Windows Environment to include Active Directory resources and accounts, Endpoint Configuration and Windows patching/updates. Ensure the health of Hyper-V and Virtual Machine deployments.
  • Work with customers on defining distributed systems requirements, testing procedures, and proposing solutions.
