Zoox is seeking a Systems Triage Engineer to play a critical role in the development of their autonomous platform. The engineer will triage and root cause issues identified during testing and real-world operations of autonomous vehicles. Responsibilities include utilizing data analytics to diagnose system faults, categorizing and prioritizing issues, identifying trends in system failures, proposing preventative measures, and producing reports and insights for leadership. The role involves hands-on work, leading by example, and developing tools to improve triage efficiency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate operational agility and the ability to manage multiple tasks in dynamic environments.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM
- Minimum 6 years of experience in systems troubleshooting
- Experience with Git, Agile methodologies
- Scripting/programming languages (preferably Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety
Good to have:
- Experience in Quality Assurance or Triage for Autonomous Driving
- Project Management experience with cross-functional and offshore teams
- Experience with Log Management, Analytics, or Simulation tools

Job Details
Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest, most complex software ever shipped in a safety-critical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime.
As a Systems Triage Engineer on our System Behavior Analysis Autonomous team, you will play a critical role in the development of Zoox's autonomous platform, working with a broad set of engineering teams across Zoox. You will help triage and root cause the issues identified during testing and real-world operations. You will also produce reports and insights that inform leadership on the overall quality and influence of engineering decisions. Your ability to distill complex systems and root cause issues will be crucial to producing a safe and stable vehicle platform.
In this role, you will:
- Utilize data analytics to analyze and diagnose a wide range of system faults and errors related to hardware, software, and sensor data from both on-road testing and system simulation runs.
- Effectively categorize and prioritize issues based on severity, urgency, and potential impact on safety and performance by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams (engineering, software, testing) and offshore teams.
- Identify trends in system failures and propose preventative measures to improve overall system safety and robustness by producing clear and concise reports of system issues, troubleshooting steps, and root cause analysis.
- Be hands-on, lead by example, and develop tools and workflows to drive improvements for both quality and quantity aspects of the triage.
- Demonstrate operational agility by quickly adapting to changing priorities, managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and implementing effective solutions in dynamic environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM-related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics, preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industry
- Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and scripting/programming languages (preferably Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis
- A passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety is essential
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in a Quality Assurance or Triage role for Autonomous Driving
- Project Management experience on programs involving cross-functional partners and offshore teams
- Experience with Log Management, Analytics, or Simulation tools
$130,998 - $180,000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
