Job Description:
The Tech II, CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for independently setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires intermediate-level skills in G-code programming, CNC setup, and machining operations, with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
What You'll Do:
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to determine machining strategy.
- Write and edit G-code programs at the machine or offline using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
- Set up CNC machines (mills and/or lathes), including tooling, fixturing, and work offsets.
- Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.
- Optimize speeds, feeds, and tool paths to improve part quality and cycle time.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, perform minor maintenance, and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of setups, tooling lists, and process documentation (Set-up Sheets, NC Program Libraries).
- Collaborate with engineers, quality, and other machinists to resolve manufacturing problems.
- Maintain clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards.
