Job Description

Arkane Lyon, established in 1999, is a renowned game development studio known for creating games with a unique style and immersive action. They are developing Marvel’s Blade, a third-person action-adventure game set in Paris. The Technical Artist will collaborate with programming and content teams to implement tools and features, create content, test new tools, contribute to user-friendly interfaces, suggest improvements, diagnose and resolve in-game problems, optimize framerate and memory, communicate technical constraints, offer technical support, create and maintain documentation, share best practices, lead training sessions, and stay informed of new developments. They will investigate new techniques, assist in prototyping, and help other developers with technical roadblocks.

Arkane Lyon is developing the upcoming title Marvel’s Blade, a third person, single player, action-adventure set in the heart of Paris. The game is based on the comic book hero Blade and will feature an original story with the studio’s signature immersive gameplay and world-class narrative.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the programming team and content team in the implementation of tools and features related to art/content creation.
  • Create content to validate new rendering features in development.
  • Test new tools/features before deployment into production.
  • Contribute to ensuring that feature/tool interfaces are user-friendly & efficient.
  • Suggest improvements and find solutions for tools used on the project.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to diagnose and resolve in-game problems.
  • Monitor & help drive framerate and memory optimization of the game.
  • Regularly communicate technical constraints and their reasons to the content teams.
  • Offer technical support to the Content team in day-by-day production issues. (Game, Tools,…)
  • Create and maintain documentation for tools, conventions and procedures.
  • Share with the content teams best-practices and new tools.
  • Create, organize, and lead training sessions so that all members of the content team can properly use the tools and methods.
  • Remain informed of new technical and technological developments
  • Investigates new techniques, assists in prototyping and helps other developers with technical roadblocks.

Qualifications

  • Strong artistic background (a good artistic eye is a necessity!).
