Job Description

As a Technical Business Analysis Specialist at Telstra, a leading telecommunications and technology company with a global presence, you will collaborate with your team to deliver valuable technical analysis and research. You will identify and resolve complex issues, drive solution development, and secure stakeholder buy-in to define and scope business problems. Your role involves analyzing business needs, developing functional and non-functional specifications, modeling workflows and data, and clarifying business rules. You will apply analytical thinking to anticipate and resolve issues during iterative analysis, development, and testing. Additionally, you will provide subject matter expertise, measure delivery and operational performance, and share knowledge of emerging technology trends.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or IT
  • Experience in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience in Agile Software Delivery
  • Conduct technical impact and gap analysis
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Analyze business needs and develop specifications
  • Apply analytical thinking to resolve issues
  • Provide subject matter expertise
  • Measure delivery and operational performance metrics
  • Share knowledge of emerging technology trends
Good to have:
  • Telco industry experience
  • Experience in Operations Support Systems (OSS) / Business Support Systems (BSS)
  • Knowledge of business processes in telco / eTOM
  • Experience in customer order and fulfillment
  • Experience in customer data management
  • Experience in billing/charging and payments
  • SQL skills
  • Exposure to AWS, microservices, Java Spring Boot, Hadoop, or PowerBI
  • UI/UX development knowledge
  • Knowledge of Non-Functional Requirements

What You’ll Do

• Leverage deep technical domain skills and expertise to conduct technical impact and gap analysis, design, and research, working as part of a technical capability team in one or more missions to enable mission design and delivery, and as part of capacity planning and lifecycle management activities.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders (the team, product owners, technical product owners, solution designers, and solution owners, as well as component teams’ DevOps engineers, testers, and technical writers) to analyse business needs, develop and document both functional and non-functional specifications/stories, model workflows, model data, clarify business rules and acceptance criteria to enable capability teams to successfully deliver value and mission epics.
• Apply analytical thinking during iterative analysis, development, and testing activities, to provide input and anticipate and resolve issues in the identification, reporting, and closing of gaps in acceptance and feasibility.
• Work with the team and technical product owners to break down work into epics, features, and stories, and specify acceptance criteria, when working in agile teams, to enable the effective planning and delivery of work.
• Provide subject matter expertise in specific functional or technical domains for assigned technical capability teams to drive solution development and/or resolve problems within the team.
•Collaborate with the team to define and measure delivery and operational performance metrics and provide input to the wider team for capability performance, growth, and learning.
•Synthesise and share knowledge of emerging technology trends, innovations, and disruptions, preparing tailored analyses to define and deliver reusable components and capabilities.
•Use your strong communication skills to gain buy-in and input from stakeholders and teams, into continuous improvement and ways of working.

About You

•10 or more years of experience in a related field, such as Software Engineering and IT.
•Experience in SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle).
•Experience in Agile Software Delivery

Desirable Experience/Skills:

  • Telco industry experience is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge and experience in Operations Support Systems (OSS) / Business Support Systems (BSS) is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of business processes in telco / eTOM is highly desirable.

  • Experience in the customer order and fulfillment domain, customer data management domain, or billing/charging and payments domain is highly desirable.

  • SQL skills are highly desirable.

  • Exposure to AWS, microservices, Java Spring Boot, Hadoop, or PowerBI is nice-to-have.

  • Knowledge in UI/UX development with exposure to accessibility guidelines is good to have

  • Knowledge of Non Functional Requirement is highly desirable
