Job Description

The Technical Designer will bridge the gap between design and engineering, ensuring gameplay systems are both creatively engaging and technically sound. This role requires close collaboration with various departments to implement and refine game mechanics, tools, and workflows to enhance player experience. Key responsibilities include writing design feature sheets, collaborating with designers, engineers, and artists, utilizing Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting, developing and maintaining tools and workflows, ensuring implementations meet performance and quality standards, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to documentation. The studio is seeking adventurous teammates who are ready to challenge themselves, eager to learn, and passionate about crafting exceptional experiences.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of experience in game development, focusing on technical design
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting
  • Full understanding of proper design process
  • Strong understanding of game mechanics and systems design

Job Details

Anchor Point Studios, a global game studio under NetEase Games, was founded by veteran game designer Paul Ehreth in October 2022. The Role

We are seeking a Technical Designer to bridge the gap between design and engineering, ensuring that gameplay systems are both creatively engaging and technically sound. This role involves close collaboration with various departments to implement and refine game mechanics, tools, and workflows that enhance player experience.

What You'll Do

  • Write design feature sheets that properly describe a needed feature to the team.

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and artists to develop and implement gameplay systems and mechanics.

  • Utilize Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting to prototype and refine game features.

  • Develop and maintain tools and workflows that streamline content creation and implementation.

  • Ensure that design implementations meet performance and quality standards across platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to game design and implementation.

  • Contribute to documentation that supports design and technical processes.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on technical design.

  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting.

  • Full understanding of proper design process.

  • Strong understanding of game mechanics, systems design, and player experience.

  • Experience with tool development and workflow optimization.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
