As a Technical Designer at Red Kite Games, you'll take full ownership of side-missions, guiding them from initial concept through to implementation. You'll be responsible for designing mission areas with a focus on creating engaging, standalone experiences that contribute to the game’s wider narrative. You'll work collaboratively with both internal and external team members, iterating on designs to ensure they align with the overarching game experience and goals. You'll also define and implement technical design systems and tools that streamline workflows and enhance productivity. You'll contribute to a cohesive and efficient production process that brings the game’s vision to life.
Must have:
  • Experience as a Technical Designer in the games industry
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine
  • Knowledge of game and level design principles
  • Knowledge of C# or similar scripting languages

• Partnered with Sharkmob on the upcoming tactical open world extraction shooter, Exoborne
• Continuing to support Warner Bros. on multiple titles
• Collaborating with Mediatonic working on the smash-hit, Fall Guys
• Working on 2 high-profile AAA 1st person shooters in UE5
• Developing Red Kite’s first original game

Day in the life of a Technical Designer:

As a Technical Designer at Red Kite, you’ll take full ownership of side-missions, guiding them from initial concept through to implementation. You'll be responsible for designing mission areas with a focus on creating engaging, standalone experiences that contribute to the game’s wider narrative. Working collaboratively with both internal and external team members, you’ll play a key role in iterating on designs to ensure they align with the overarching game experience and goals. You'll also help define and implement technical design systems and tools that streamline workflows and enhance productivity, whilst working closely with our code, art, and design teams, contributing to a cohesive and efficient production process that brings the game’s vision to life.

Please note, you will need to be onsite in Leeds Monday-Friday.

What you need to do this job:

• Experience as a Technical Designer within the games industry.
• Technically proficient in Unreal Engine.
• Good knowledge of game and level design principles.
• Good knowledge of C# or similar scripting languages.

The Interview Process:

At Red Kite Games, we want a holistic and engaging interview process that allows us to get to know you, your skills and your potential. For our Technical Designer role, we have a 2 stage interview process:

1st Stage: One hour Teams call with our Creative Director and Lead Designer. Here we will talk with you about your experience and skills, our expectations in the role and ask some competency based questions. There will, of course, be opportunities for you to ask questions!

2nd Stage: This will be an onsite meeting where you will get to meet the team! You will get a tour of our studio and meet with a variety of people. This usually takes a few hours.
Red Kite is located in central Leeds, a major UK city connected to London by rapid rail links and the M1 motorway – plus the rest of the world via Leeds Bradford airport. It's home to some of the best restaurants, bars and museums in the North of England, and is within easy reach of spectacular countryside (the Yorkshire Moors and Bronte Country), historical York and the Yorkshire East coast (you should definitely check out Whitby and Runswick Bay).
