Job Description

As a Technical Designer - Editor & Game Master at Bohemia Interactive, you will be instrumental in developing the Arma 4 Editor and its innovative Game Master mode. This role demands a deep understanding of multiplayer mechanics, particularly replication across networked environments. You will design and optimize object-oriented scripts (C-like) to enhance the Game Master's ability to dynamically curate events, place assets, and shape the battlefield in real-time. Collaboration with other departments is crucial to create intuitive UI/UX solutions for both Game Masters and players. Regular play sessions are part of the iterative development process, allowing you to assess and refine implemented mechanics. This position requires strong scripting skills, experience with multiplayer replication, and a passion for creating engaging game modes. You will also contribute to documentation updates and improvements.

Job Details

Technical Designer - Editor & Game Master

In this role you will focus on developing the Arma 4 Editor and its Game Master mode. One of the key areas you’ll work on is multiplayer replication, so experience in this field is necessary.

Game Master mode is an open-ended, real-time experience where a player assumes the role of a Game Master and dynamically curates events, places assets, and shapes the battlefield. It serves as the next evolution of Arma 3 Zeus, bringing new multiplayer scripting opportunities and real-time mission control to Arma 4. This role requires a deep understanding of multiplayer mechanics, scripting for replication across networked environments, and the ability to create engaging UI/UX solutions for both Game Masters and players.

Job Description

  • Develop and refine technical, functional, and visual design to enhance player experience in Game Master mode
  • Write and optimize object-oriented scripts (C-like) for multiplayer replication in Game Master mode
  • Work with other departments to create intuitive and engaging solutions for multiplayer gameplay mechanics
  • Participate in regular play sessions to assess and iterate on implemented mechanics
  • Use internal game editors and external tools to support game development with scripting and automation
  • Improve, adjust, and enhance documentation to reflect the current state of mechanics and assets

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Strong scripting capabilities with an emphasis on multiplayer replication
  • Interest in developing creative game modes and understanding PC & console UX
  • Experience in developing game modes and multiplayer mechanics is a big plus
  • Previous experience with Arma games is a big plus
  • Familiarity with other game engines like Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, etc. is a plus
