Job Description

This role involves working with cross-functional teams to optimize power consumption in Google Pixel devices. Responsibilities include power consumption modeling, software optimization across chipset components (CPU, GPU, Memory, Connectivity), debugging battery drain issues, collaborating with Android app teams for power optimization, and developing power consumption validation tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in embedded development, power management, and software optimization for mobile devices. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and collaboration with hardware and software engineers to improve battery life and user experience for Pixel devices. This is a critical role in ensuring the Pixel devices deliver exceptional battery performance.

Must have:

7+ years embedded development experience
C/C++ programming proficiency
Power management expertise
Software optimization skills
Collaboration with cross-functional teams

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD
10+ years embedded OS experience
Experience with mobile device hardware subsystems
SQL data analysis skills
Knowledge of Linux kernel and Android system

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience in embedded development.
Experience in programming in C or C++.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
10 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
Experience with power management of embedded mobile devices and hardware subsystems, including application processor, multimedia, Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), modem and WiFi.
Experience with optimizing software for power and performance improvements.
Experience with SQL for analyzing data collections.
Knowledge of Linux kernel, Android system, and embedded software system design.

You will also be responsible for coordinating efforts with teams across Android platforms, applications and hardware teams to ensure great battery life for Pixel devices.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to model power consumption and define power goals.
Analyze and optimize the software running across the key components of the chipset such as CPU, GPU, Memory Subsystem and Connectivity.
Debug and resolve battery drain issues.
Collaborate with Android application teams across Google to help them optimize power.
Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
