Job Description

This internship at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg offers a 6-month, full-time opportunity to contribute to the planning and execution of powertrain launches and engineering changes. Working within a cross-functional team, the intern will be the key contact for specific NPI (New Product Introduction) topics. Responsibilities include collaborating on complex problem-solving, coordinating production line trials, managing launch activities, providing updates in program reviews, tracking project milestones and resources, creating reports, and performing project walks. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering field (Chemical, Electrochemical/Electrical, Materials Engineering) and possess strong teamwork, communication, and risk management skills.

Must have:

BS/MS in relevant engineering field
Cross-functional project experience
Risk management and communication skills
Experience with cell/battery manufacturing
Time-critical project experience

Good to have:

PMP/PMI certification
Automotive industry experience
Experience with high-speed automated lines

What to Expect

Location: Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

Duration: 6 months

Time Type: Full-time

Start Date: January 2024

Internship assignment:

The successful candidate will join a talented team of engineers responsible for the planning and execution of all powertrain launches and engineering changes introduced into our factory at Giga Berlin. The role will involve working cross-functionally across several teams to ensure all is in place to deliver our launches successfully. Exceptional teamwork and communication skills are mandatory, as you’ll be the key point of contact within our team for specific NPI topics.

What You’ll Do

Work collaboratively with fast-paced, cross-functional teams to solve complex issues, set goals, track deliverables, and report out.
Coordinate and execute production line trials and critical validation builds.
Manage cross-functional production launch activities, support pre-production build and launch activities.
Provide updates in weekly program and executive reviews for project/program development and implementation status.
Track project milestones including task duration and resource usage.
Create reports showing critical path activities and schedules.
Perform project walks with system owners.

What You’ll Bring

Currently working towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical/Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering or other related fields.
PMP, PMI certificates or experience in project management is helpful.
Experience working with cell and/or battery design, development and/or implementation of manufacturing projects. Preference in the automotive industry or high-speed automated lines.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate dynamic cross-functional projects with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and test to meet project timelines.
Proficient at risk management and communication.
Experience working in time critical and fast-paced product development.
Strong process and continuous improvement mindset.
