This Technical Program Manager role within Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) focuses on accelerating network deployment in Azure data centers. Overview

Join a high-impact team driving innovation in network deployment for data centers. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will enable the seamless configuration of critical network components within and between the datacenters of Microsoft’s Azure cloud. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in significantly reducing deployment cycle times by creatively optimizing processes and managing network dependencies.   

 

As part of the Network Acceleration team, this role will require deep partnership across Microsoft as these programs will be on the leading edge of innovation and will include driving pilots and other experiments that shape our ongoing commitment to deliver cloud services rapidly at scale. We are part of Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), the team behind one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online products and services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. CO+I is focused on growth, efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.    

  

The successful candidate will be a team player, possess communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to effectively manage and solve problems in alignment to standards and schedule. The role partners closely with colleagues, engineering and other infrastructure and operational teams, along with key decision makers across geographic and organizational boundaries, while maintaining excellence in installation of network infrastructure for high security networks in datacenters and other spaces.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development  
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.  

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development 
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 4+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos). 
Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

Product/Service Development  

  • Collaborates with others to track, coordinate, and communicate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for a group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service). Helps monitor processes and hold stakeholders accountable for following the established schedule and processes. Helps track and manage dependencies to enable cohesive, connected user scenarios and to avoid issues and mitigate risks. Begins to make adjustments or course corrections when projects are not aligned to schedules or goals. 

  • Creates relationships to drive orchestration and integration efforts for the development and implementation process of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, services) for large and complex cross functional projects with internal teams and external partners. Collaborates and coordinates across organizations to ensure alignment on product management and release, including tradeoffs, adjustments, and improvements as feasible.  

   

Product/Service Performance  

  • Partners with others (e.g., Data Science, Software and Hardware Engineering) to collect performance metrics (e.g., Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as usage, quality speed, and cost), monitor and report on progress (e.g., business reviews), and derive insights that lead to productive courses of action to improve development, iteration, and implementation of a group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service). Collaborates with others to leverage customer listening systems, telemetry, engagements (e.g., interviews, surveys), etc., to develop insights on product and/or service performance and customer needs. Partners with others to share insights with Engineering and other partners. Collaborates to form hypotheses, perform experiments, and iterate to drive improvement in specific performance metrics.
