Job Summary:


We're seeking an exceptional Technical Writer to join our team and help us create high-quality documentation that educates and delights our users. As a Technical Writer at OpenObserve, you'll be responsible for crafting clear, concise, and engaging content that showcases our platform's capabilities and helps users get the most out of our technology. You'll work closely with our engineering, product, and marketing teams to develop documentation that meets the needs of our diverse user base.


Responsibilities:


  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation for OpenObserve's platform, including user guides, API documentation, and release notes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop content that aligns with product roadmaps and marketing strategies
  • Conduct research to stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in observability and monitoring
  • Develop and maintain documentation templates, style guides, and standards
  • Edit and review content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Participate in peer review and feedback processes to ensure high-quality content
  • Help develop and maintain OpenObserve's documentation strategy and roadmap
  • Work with the community to incorporate feedback and suggestions into documentation


Requirements:


  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the software industry
  • Strong portfolio that showcases your writing skills and experience with complex technical topics
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, concise language
  • Experience with documentation tools such as Markdown, reStructuredText, or similar
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for open-source values and community-driven projects


Nice to Have:


  • Experience with observability, monitoring, or related technologies
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of API documentation tools like Swagger or API Blueprint
  • Certification in technical writing or a related field
