Shield AI is seeking a Hardware Test Technician to join their Engineering team. This role involves building and maintaining test systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software components, for the V-BAT aircraft. The technician will assemble test fixtures, simplify test stand designs, and ensure high hardware reliability. Responsibilities include responding to production issues and advocating for design improvements to streamline testing processes.
Must have:
  • Build and maintain test stands, including electrical, mechanical, and software elements.
  • Respond to emergent issues on the production floor to keep test stands running.
  • Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews.
  • Advocate for design changes that result in simpler testing processes and test stand maintenance.
  • Experience with hands-on technical work in a high-volume production setting.
  • Experience building wiring harnesses and assembling circuit boards.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects.
  • Soldering, machining, and harness assembly.

Job Description:

Shield AI’s mission is to protect the lives of service members and civilians with intelligent systems. The Hardware Test Engineering team contributes to this effort by designing test solutions that drive high hardware reliability on our V-BAT vehicle. These solutions are in-house designed electrical and mechanical equipment used to perform component and system-level testing, both at ambient and in simulated harsh environmental conditions.

In this role, you will build and maintain a fleet of test systems that included electrical, mechanical, and software elements. You will assemble test fixtures and work with engineers to simplify and improve test stand designs. Help us save lives as we strive to deliver the most highly reliable aerospace hardware in the industry.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain test stands, which include electrical, mechanical, and software elements. Test stands also include harnessing and other cabling.
  • Respond to emergent issues on the production floor to keep test stands running.
  • Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler testing processes and test stand maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience with hands-on technical work in a high-volume production setting.
  • Experience building wiring harnesses and assembling circuit boards.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects, which can be from an internship, job, club, team, personal project, etc.
  • Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.
  • Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
  • Soldering, machining, and harness assembly.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful outcomes.
