In this position the selected candidate will be responsible for providing UX research expertise on multiple programs and use Human Centered Design (research/workshops) techniques, to help the team obtain empathy for the direct user community by leading & conducting research studies. In addition, as a Designer, the candidate will be responsible for providing user interface/user experience design expertise on multiple programs. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring user experience, using that feedback to design websites and software programs/products that are easy to use. Candidate will work closely to refine user experience, apply HCD principles, and communicate user’s feedback to project leaders, other HCD users and development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Research user needs as well as potential system enhancements and integrate the results of usability testing to provide recommendation.
  • Succinctly communicate with the project leadership, development teams and stakeholders to prioritize user research/feedback with the product roadmap, meet customer goals and deliver user insights.
  • Produce clean quantitative and qualitative research artifacts including personas; journey maps; user and task flows; wireframes; sitemaps; and clickable prototypes; with oversight from product leadership
  • Work closely with UX designers to build low to high fidelity Wire frames & interactive prototypes, detailed specifications and other design documents as needed.
  • Translate ideas into actionable, testable solutions, and working with engineering teams to define and implement those solutions.
  • Work with researchers and other Service Design team members to build a cohesive product
  • Craft research goals, insights, themes, and recommendations in written and spoken presentation
  • Design leading and innovative digital services that provide healthcare insights to millions of Americans.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • US citizen, or Authorized to Work in the US and have lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Education/Experience: BA/BS with 7 years relevant work experience on research, strategy, and/or UX for clients
  • At least 2 years experience working with agile Scrum methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to approach UX challenges with empathy and compassion.
  • Understanding how to work within a suite of products and how UX decisions impact that suite.
  • Establish strong working relationships and trust with various agency teams, product management and product development teams.
  • Experience in all stages of the product development lifecycle - from research through design inception through implementation.
  • Ability to communicate (complex) interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Developing research plans for usability testing of applications, software, and websites.
  • Examining/synthesizing research and insight development and communicating those findings to team members and stakeholders
  • Pair with other team members - designers, engineers, and strategists in real-time to solve problems
  • Defining interaction models, user task flows, and UI (user interface) specifications
  • Experience designing for accessible ( WCAG, 508 Compliance) digital products
  • Creating and communicating interaction and UX design decisions in the most appropriate forms — from user stories to wireframes to high fidelity prototypes.
  • Prototyping concept designs and validate design direction with appropriate user and stakeholder input.
  • Utilizing and communicating human-computer interaction (HCI) best practices.
  • Communicating scenarios (using personas), end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to other people working on a product.
  • Experience using various designing & prototyping tools such as Figma, Mural, LucidChart, etc.
  • Experience working on Federal Government contracts, especially Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is preferred but not required
