UK Sports Director

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced UK Sports Director to lead and oversee the sportsbook proposition in the UK market. Primarily focused on BetMGM, (LeoVegas Group is a part of MGM Resorts International), the role is responsible for shaping and executing our ambitious sports betting strategy.

This role is the UK sports domain expert, collaborating closely with global product, compliance, legal, and tech teams to localise and execute sportsbook initiatives that drive sustainable growth.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• UK Sportsbook Proposition: Oversee and manage the end-to-end UK sportsbook offering, ensuring it remains competitive and stays ahead of market trends.
• Commercial leadership: Monitor key performance metrics, identify and prioritise against actionable insights - owning the unit economics to drive compound growth 
• Market Positioning & Competitive Analysis: Continuously monitor market dynamics, competitor offerings, and customer behaviors to refine tactical and strategic priorities.
• Campaign Management: Collaborate with UK marketing teams to perfectly position BetMGM and leverage data-driven promotions to drive acquisition, retention and reactivation
• Help ensure all sportsbook operations and campaigns meet UKGC requirements and uphold industry-leading responsible gambling standards
• Local Product Feature Development & Prioritisation: Work with product teams to define and prioritise key sportsbook features, consistently maintaining tier 1 product parity and identifying where we focus on gaining superiority
• Local Pricing & Trading Strategy: Help develop and refine pricing and trading approaches to maximise profitability while maintaining a compelling customer experience.
• Player Profiling & Risk Management: Help localise player profiling methodologies to optimise trading decisions.
• Help ensure all sportsbook operations and campaigns meet UKGC requirements and uphold industry-leading responsible gambling standards

OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

• Proven experience in a senior sportsbook, commercial or trading leadership role within a tier 1 UK betting operator
• Transformation experience: We have big plans to match our big ambitions for BetMGM - being a change agent is a key skill
• Experience with customer segmentation, cohort analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent knowledge of UK sports betting market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory considerations - ideally with expert horse racing experience
• Ability to drive day-to-day collaboration between trading, marketing, and product teams to achieve strategic goals.
• Strong analytical skills with a results-driven approach.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Strong understanding of sportsbook operations, including pricing models, risk management, and trading strategies.
• Proven to be able to distill complexity to unlock growth
