Job Description

ByteDance seeks a US Payroll Compliance Officer to ensure all payroll processes adhere to federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing accurate and timely payroll execution, conducting audits, identifying process improvements, managing a payroll team, ensuring system compliance, developing payroll policies, and mitigating compliance risks. The ideal candidate possesses extensive payroll compliance and administration experience, strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP, Workday), in-depth understanding of North American payroll regulations, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a CPP certification (highly desirable).

Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Responsibilities - Ensure all payroll processes adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including tax laws and wage and hour laws; - Oversee the accurate and timely execution of payroll, including regular and off-cycle runs; - Conduct regular audits and ensuring compliance and preparing detailed reports for management; - Identify areas for improving payroll processes to enhance compliance and efficiency; - Manage a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance on compliance matters; - Ensure the payroll system is configured to comply with all regulatory requirement; - Develop and update payroll policies and procedures, ensuring they are clearly communicated and consistently applied for compliance purpose; - Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to payroll, including fraud prevention and data security.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Extensive experience in payroll compliance and administration, tax consulting experience; - Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software, such as ADP, Workday or similar platforms; - In-depth understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements in North America; - Exceptional communication and proven leadership and team management experience; - Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, Human resources, or related field; - Experience in Big Four global accounting firms is highly desirable; - Familiarity with international payroll processes and regulations is a plus. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $140800 - $312000 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
