Job Description

Tala is a financial technology company dedicated to empowering the Global Majority by providing accessible financial services. They operate across three continents, serving millions of customers. The UX Researcher in Mexico will join the Insights team to foster a deep understanding of customer lives, attitudes, and behaviors. This role involves applying human-centered design and mixed research methods to generate trustworthy insights that inform product development, competitive analysis, and customer financial health for Tala's Mexico business.
Must Have:
  • Support and execute user research studies and consumer research.
  • Assist in the analysis of collected data to generate insights.
  • Assist in end-to-end mixed method research activities (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability testing, concept testing).
  • Help prepare materials, recruit participants, execute research protocols, and document findings.
  • Contribute to defining research questions and selecting appropriate data collection methods.
  • Help synthesize research findings to identify key customer pain points and opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers and product managers.
  • 3-5 years of experience conducting user research, preferably in consumer fintech.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and analyze research studies using human-centered design techniques and mixed research methods.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage the logistics of small-to-medium research projects.
  • Proven experience supporting cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Data Analytics, and Marketing/Growth.

The Role

The mission of Tala’s Insights team is to drive a collaborative process to generate trustworthy insights that lead to empathy-fueled action. As a member of the Insights Team, our UX researcher in Mexico will:

  • Contribute to the growth of Mexico business by ensuring a deep shared understanding of our customers’ daily lives, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Help build insights into experimental new product development, competitive analysis, current product improvements, and customer financial health.
  • Apply best practices in human-centered design techniques and mixed research methods.

What You'll Do

  • Support and execute user research studies and consumer research, assisting in the analysis of collected data to generate insights that inform product decisions.
  • Assist in end-to-end mixed method research activities (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability testing, concept testing) by helping to prepare materials, recruit participants, execute research protocols, and document findings.
  • Contribute to defining research questions and selecting appropriate data collection methods, ensuring research deliverables provide value to stakeholders and meet established project timelines.
  • Help synthesize research findings to identify key customer pain points and opportunities to improve the customer experience, then work with the team to communicate these priorities to the business.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers and product managers to understand their research needs and contribute to both current product improvements and innovation opportunities.

What You'll Need

  • 3–5 years of experience conducting user research, preferably within innovative consumer fintech, financial, mobile, or digital companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and analyze research studies through the application of human-centered design techniques and mixed research methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, usability testing, concept testing)
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage the logistics of small-to-medium research projects, including coordinating activities with various team members and adapting to changes.
  • A natural collaborator with proven experience supporting cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Data Analytics, and Marketing/Growth teams.
