Job Description

This role is a UX Researcher, Quantitative focusing on the Google Pixel team. Responsibilities include identifying, defining, measuring, and optimizing factors driving positive Pixel experiences. You will design, conduct, and analyze research using quantitative and qualitative methods to understand consumer needs, values, and expectations. Connecting behavioral and survey data, you'll extract patterns to inform product decisions. Statistical and qualitative knowledge is essential to producing findings and communicating them to cross-functional teams through reports and presentations. The role requires expertise in multivariate statistics and experimental design. The position is crucial for creating useful, usable, and delightful products within the fast-paced Pixel team environment. Strong collaboration with product managers and engineers is expected.
Must have:
  • 4+ years applied research experience
  • Experience with data manipulation and computational statistics
  • Expertise in quantitative research and data science
  • Skill in multivariate statistics and experimental design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with program management
  • Experience in consumer-focused quantitative research

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics for data sets.
  • Experience with command of research questions within a given domain, and of technical tools for the analysis of data within that field.
  • Experience owning and delivering consumer focused quantitative research or data science solutions and driving results.
  • Experience with program management working on multiple different research efforts or projects.
  • Experience in multivariate statistics and the design of experiments.

As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you’ll help your team of UXers, product managers, and engineers understand user needs. You’ll work with stakeholders across functions and levels and have impact at all stages of product development. You’ll play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. You’ll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis.

The UXR community at Google is unique and will help you do your best work. You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from UXRs across Google through regular meetups, mentor programs, and access to internal research tools.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, measure, and optimize the factors that drive positive Pixel experiences.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze research to understand consumer needs, values, and quality expectations through quantitative and qualitative methods and analysis.
  • Connect behavioral data with survey data, extract patterns from data sets to answer core business questions and inform product decisions at scale.
  • Apply statistical, scientific, and qualitative knowledge to produce findings.
  • Work and communicate through reports and presentations in partnership with fast-paced cross-functional teams focused on speed and excellence.
