The role also involves developing the Consultant Relations functional strategy, building the business case for investment, and collaborating with various teams to ensure message alignment and coordinated consultant engagement. The role aims to position the function as a top-of-funnel growth engine and a trusted thought partner.

Position Title: Vice President, Consultant Relations 

Reporting To: Chief Growth Officer

Location: Remote in approved U.S. locations (Well has hubs in Chapel Hill, NC; Boston, MA; Minneapolis, MN; and New York, NY)

Compensation Information:  $220,000-$245,000, depending on qualifications, plus bonus potential

Position Summary: The Vice President of Consultant Relations will serve as a key member of the Sales and Growth Team at Well, leading the strategy and deployment of the function for the company. This role also oversees a Senior Manager of Consultant Relations and reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Shape and scale the Consultant Relations function, positioning it as a strategic growth lever within the organization
  2. Deepen and expand relationships with senior leaders across the consulting ecosystem to elevate Well’s visibility, influence buying decisions, and build category preference
  3. Partner cross-functionally with teams in Marketing, Product, Outcomes, and Client Success to ensure our roadmap aligns with consultant-driven insights and market expectations

This is a unique opportunity to build upon a strong foundation and lead the future of Consultant Relations at Well. In this role, you’ll strategically scale the function into a top-of-funnel growth engine and trusted thought partner as deals progress through the pipeline. You’ll work in close partnership with Sales leadership to shape demand, influence buying criteria, and deepen consultant engagement at every stage of the funnel.

External responsibilities: 

  • Design and scale the next iteration of Well’s Consultant Relations strategy, establishing a clear scope, approach, and operating model that aligns with our go-to-market priorities
  • Serve as the strategic point of contact for national consulting firms (e.g., Aon, Mercer, WTW), cultivating executive relationships and expanding local connections that unlock deal flow
  • Map and nurture key consulting relationships, supporting the Sales team by driving influence early and often across geographies and practice areas
  • Drive preference for Well by articulating our unique value in the market and proactively identifying opportunities to participate in RFPs, capability presentations, and shortlist conversations
  • Act as a strategic connector across Sales, Marketing, and Client Success to ensure message alignment and coordinated consultant engagement
  • Secure firm-specific visibility opportunities, including vendor forums, event sponsorships, and structured consultant education initiatives
  • Convene leadership conversations to gather market intelligence, capture product feedback, and identify whitespace opportunities
  • Explore strategic alliances or product distribution opportunities with consulting firms to expand market reach and influence
  • Negotiate partnership agreements that drive consultant preference and contribute meaningfully to revenue growth

Internal responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Consultant Relations functional strategy, ensuring alignment with Well’s growth priorities and socializing the approach with executive stakeholders across the organization
  • Build the business case for investment, including annual budget planning, resource forecasting, and defining expected outcomes tied to spend
  • Design and manage a multi-year roadmap for Consultant Relations, setting clear priorities and scaling the function through future hires as market demand grows
  • Partner with Client Success to support existing Well clients and ensure coordinated relationships with benefits consultants
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure consultant-facing materials are clear, compelling, and consistently refreshed to reflect Well’s differentiators
  • Collaborate with Growth Operations to define reporting and measurement strategies that clearly articulate the impact of consultant relationships on pipeline, deal progression, and brand preference

Qualifications:

  • 6-10+ years’ experience in benefits industry
  • Proven national relationships with thought leaders, influencers, and specialty practice teams at the key consulting firms
  • Deep understanding of market expectations in the employee health and wellness benefits arena, including working knowledge of the buying cycle, competitor dynamics, and overall processes for procuring services like Well 
  • Experience managing relationships in multi-year contract cycles
  • Experience with complex negotiations for long-term relationship management
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Track record of success forging productive relationships within the healthcare consulting community
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
