This role is based in San Francisco or New York and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model or remotely in the US.

About the Role

We are looking for a Video Editor to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of video creative at Patreon. In this role, you’ll be responsible for crafting compelling and visually engaging stories across multiple formats, from long-form narratives to short-form social videos. You’ll work closely with our creative team to bring ideas to life, maintaining a high level of craft while balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

This is more than just an editing job—it’s an opportunity to push the boundaries of storytelling and develop new formats that elevate creators' voices. The ideal candidate is not only an expert in Adobe Premiere and After Effects but also someone who understands the nuances of sound design, pacing, and audience. You’ll need to be highly organized, able to manage post-production workflows independently, and comfortable taking notes from multiple stakeholders to refine a vision.

About You

Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled video editor with a deep understanding of storytelling, pacing, and the ability to edit for multiple format types. You have a strong eye for detail, excellent technical skills, and the ability to craft compelling, engaging content optimized for digital platforms.

What We’re Looking For:

• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Strong editorial judgment with the ability to craft engaging narratives that resonate with audiences.

• A team player with a collaborative spirit, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

• Exceptional communication skills and the confidence to craft the edit in a strong voice while meeting brand expectations.

• Meticulous attention to detail, organization, and time management to ensure all projects meet deadlines.

Key Editing Skills You Possess:

• Video Editing: You have a deep understanding of editing techniques, pacing, and structure to create engaging short-form and long-form content.

• Sound Design: You know how to use audio—music, sound effects, and mixing—to enhance storytelling and set the right tone.

• Color Grading: You can adjust color, contrast, and tone to match the desired aesthetic and mood of the video.

• Motion Graphics & Animation: You have experience using After Effects to create dynamic visuals, graphics, and text animations to elevate content.

• Optimizing for Social Media: You understand how to edit content for various platforms, ensuring videos are engaging from the first second.

• Trend Awareness: You stay ahead of editing trends, styles, and techniques that keep content fresh and relevant.

• Project Management: You can juggle multiple editing projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Experience Required:

• 7+ years of experience editing for social media, either for world-class brands or creator-first platforms.

• Proven ability to craft engaging content tailored for different social platforms.

• A creator mindset—whether you’ve built your own audience or worked closely with digital creators, you understand the creative process firsthand.

• Strong collaboration skills, both internally and externally, with a keen eye for operational efficiency.
