Job Description
The Vision & Call Intern program at World Relief Western Washington offers a holistic internship experience rooted in Christian values, providing opportunities to contribute to projects, engage in discussions, and receive mentorship. The intern will assist case workers with transportation, help newly arrived families with tasks like applying for employment, assist with ESL classes, and help refugees adjust to American culture. Other responsibilities include navigating social systems, advocating for clients, and participating in an intern project. The role is limited-term, funded until November 16, 2026, and is contingent upon funding extension.
Must have:
- Mature and personal Christian faith.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
- Desire to serve and empower vulnerable communities.
- Criminal background check and MVR check completion
- Valid Driver's license, vehicle access
- Genuine passion for serving refugees and immigrants.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Willingness to engage in reflective practices.

- Knowledge of secondary languages (Dari, Pashto, etc.)

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
If you are interested in walking alongside refugees and other immigrants while exploring your own personal and professional growth, then our Vision & Call Intern program at World Relief Western Washington is for you! Through a holistic internship experience rooted in Christian values and leadership principles, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, engage in reflective discussions, and receive mentorship from experienced leaders in the humanitarian field.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until November 16, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Case Workers with transporting refugee clients to important appointments.
- Help newly arrived families with tasks such as applying for employment, enrolling children in school, moving into more permanent housing, or getting a state ID.
- Assist with ESL classes.
- Practice English with refugees and help them adjust to American culture.
- Help refugees and other immigrants navigate relevant social systems including but not limited to: grocery shopping, using public transportation, balancing a checkbook, creating a bank account, etc.
- Work with staff to advocate for clients and connect them to community resources such as childcare, libraries, or employment opportunities
- Fostering Mutually Transformative Relationships with refugee families
- Taking part in an intern project designed to enhance our programs' effectiveness
- Other related tasks may be assigned depending on organizational needs and each intern’s interests.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Must complete a Criminal Background Check, and Motor Vehicle Record check .
- Valid drivers license, and access to a vehicle
- Genuine passion for serving refugees and other immigrants.
- Commitment to Christian values and principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
- Willingness to engage in reflective practices and personal growth opportunities.
- Openness to learning and exploring new perspectives.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
- Cross-cultural experience and/or a desire to learn more about cultural humility.
- Ability to participate in the Vision & Call Conference.
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn while embracing diverse opportunities and needs that may arise.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of secondary languages is beneficial but not mandatory. (Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Spanish, Arabic, French, and Tigrinya)
- Commitment to 9 months toward gaining valuable experience and contributing to our mission.
