Digital UI & Brand Designer

Adyen is seeking a structured, proactive, and collaborative designer. This role will be based in our Amsterdam office, working closely with cross-functional teams and reporting directly to Global Design Team Lead.

The designer role focuses on ideating, designing, and implementing visuals that align with Adyen’s brand guidelines, value proposition, and marketing strategy. You’ll take complex ideas and product features and simplify them into beautiful, understandable visuals. You’ll respond to diverse briefs, translating project requirements into intuitive, impactful designs that achieve measurable outcomes. As a senior designer, you regularly take on complex projects.

The ideal candidate is experienced in responding to briefs, creating compelling designs across various objectives, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders. Proficiency in multiple forms of design, with specialization in at least one. This role requires strong project management skills. 

We’re a design team that builds for scale and clarity,  but we’re also explorers. We believe AI is a partner, not a shortcut. We’re looking for designers who are creative, critical, and curious, not just visually polished.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop high-quality brand concepts across multiple formats, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Strategically elevate the brand’s visual identity across multiple platforms, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence.
  • Leverage extensive expertise in design principles and advanced techniques to deliver visually compelling, impactful design solutions that set a high standard for creative excellence.
  • Present work and advocate for creative choices with stakeholders across the organization, effectively communicating design rationale, strategy, and objectives.
  • Design with consideration for our growing global audience, ensuring solutions can flex to address specific multi-language needs while maintaining visual consistency and brand integrity.
  • Maintain the artistic vision and aesthetic direction for projects, campaigns, and brand initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand identity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate brand strategy, business objectives, cultural narratives, and consumer insights into creative solutions that consistently meet or exceed expectations.
  • Manage multiple projects across all stages of the design process, from conception to final delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform duties independently and autonomously with limited direction, taking ownership and accountability for assigned projects.
  • Own and be accountable for the successful execution of assigned projects, proactively identifying and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, providing clear guidance, updates, and direction throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
  • Experiment with AI tools (e.g. for image generation, content ideation, motion design, or prototyping) to support design exploration and creative efficiency, where relevant.

What you are: 

  • You have 5+ years of professional experience working as a designer (in-house, freelance, or agency).
  • You are highly proficient in Adobe CC, Keynote, and Figma.
  • You have a strong portfolio that showcases high craft design and impactful work across both digital and print media.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and practical knowledge of AI tools in the design process, whether in visual development, prototyping, or workflow optimization.
  • You enjoy UI design, visual storytelling, and component building not UX flows, user testing, or wireframing. If your passion lies in UX, this role is not the right fit.
  • You have experience working with external agencies.
  • You are a team player who understands the value of collaboration and an all-hands-on-deck approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments such as startups, agencies, or fast-moving in-house teams.
  • You have the ability to self-start, stick to deadlines, and drive projects forward, while being open and comfortable with iteration and feedback.
  • You have full professional proficiency (written and verbal) in English.
  • Some domestic and international travel is required.
