The Workshop Supervisor at Tesla in Oakleigh, Australia, leads workshop teams, ensuring efficient daily operations and premium customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing Service Technicians and Apprentices, delivering exceptional service experiences for Tesla customers (Model S, X, 3, and future models), collaborating with Service Management for strategic scaling, and driving continuous improvements in customer service, team output, and operational excellence. The role demands strong leadership, technical acumen (understanding Tesla products and service systems), and financial awareness to achieve operational goals. The ideal candidate possesses prior experience as a Foreman, Workshop Controller, Assistant Service Manager, or Service Manager, along with a proven track record of team leadership and a passion for Tesla's mission.
Must have:
- Professional experience as Foreman/Workshop Controller/Service Manager
- Leadership experience managing diverse teams
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance & repair techniques
- Technical acumen in Tesla products and service systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
- Qualified motor mechanic, Diagnostic Technician, or Master Technician
- Experience with HVAC, hydraulics, brakes, electronic systems

What to Expect What You’ll DoWhat You’ll Bring
Workshop Supervisors are leaders of our workshop teams and are solely responsible for the effective and efficient day to day service operation ensuring customer satisfaction is premium. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Service Technicians and Apprentices in delivering an impeccable service experience to each and every Tesla customer while preparing Tesla Service teams to meet the needs of our Model S, Model X, Model 3 customers and beyond. This role will work closely with the Service Management to strategize as we scale.
- Our Service team must deliver excellent results and achieve goals quarter after quarter, month after month, on all aspects of customers, people, operations, and financials
- Customer Focused: Our customers are changing the world, and it is your responsibility to exceed their expectations of what a service experience should be. We expect you to go above and beyond for our customers. You will actively monitor customer service trends to make necessary improvements, and assist your team in developing appropriate standards and processes to continuously elevate the overall service experience
- People: Our Workshop Supervisor will set the example. We expect you to put your team’s success before your own, and actively involve yourself in team members’ growth and development. Your team will look to you to set the standard for open communication, active problem solving, and a positive work environment. We will look to you to build a team of top talent and mentor the next generation of Tesla leaders. Our Workshop Supervisors' are the coaches of their teams – you must provide regular coaching and feedback and have a deep knowledge of your team’s strengths and opportunities. You will be responsible for leading change and inspiring your team every day
- Operational Excellence: As a Workshop Supervisor, you must understand and own every aspect of the service centre’s performance. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvements to facilitate exceptional team output and customer service. We expect you to champion safety, efficiency, quality, and overall excellence in all of your actions and decisions
- Financials: You will be expected to learn and understand our business, know their numbers and lead the centre’s daily operations to achieve specific goals set by you and the Service Manager in productivity, quality, output, cost as well as revenue / margin where applicable
- Our Service team acts in the best interest of Tesla at all times. You must have a passion for our mission, our people, and our customers
- Technical acumen is required – you must develop a knowledge of all Tesla products, as well as Service systems, processes, and procedures
- Professional Experience as a Foreman, Workshop Controller, Assistant Service Manager or Service Manager is required
- Preferred educational experience: Qualified motor mechanic, Diagnostic Technician and/or Master Technician
- Leadership experience: Experience leading teams and managing a diverse group of roles and responsibilities
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicle including testing, diagnosis, HVAC service, hydraulic, brakes, testing and repair of electronic systems and modules
- Valid driver’s license and insurance required
- Good verbal English capabilities
- Occasional travel will be required both interstate and international
