2D Animator/Comedy Writer

Exploding Kittens is a leading game and entertainment company with a mission to inspire people to connect, laugh, and play fun games in the physical world. After initially seeking to raise $10K through Kickstarter, the Exploding Kittens campaign raised $8.7M in 30 days from 219,000 backers. To date, Exploding Kittens is the #1 most-backed project in Kickstarter history and has sold over 20 million games.

The 2D Animator / Comedy Writer is responsible for writing, drawing, and animating short-form content on Exploding Kittens social accounts. Exploding Kittens is looking for an experienced 2D Animator/Writer to work directly with Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal and co-founder of Exploding Kittens) to brainstorm, create, and develop unique and funny content to grow brand awareness and promote new products through animated social media videos.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

• Create and execute animated short-form comedy concepts for our Instagram and TikTok accounts, including concepting, writing, storyboarding, animation, and sound
• Write new concepts as well as animate existing artwork
• Make funny, relatable and shareable videos
• Have no ego when addressing stakeholder notes and taking feedback for rounds of edits
• Work cross-functionally with the Marketing, eCommerce and Sales teams
• Be collaborative, agile, experimental, and proactive
• Produce high-quality animations that grow social subscribers and increase engagement

WHAT WE NEED

• Written and animated at least 3 comedy videos that have reached over 100,000 views on TikTok or Instagram in the last year and can provide content examples.
• 2+ years of creating animated content for social media
• A background in comedy, comics, or animation
• Working knowledge of 2D Animation & Production processes
• Proficiency with design software, including Adobe Creative Suite
• Great communication skills and the ability to give and receive critical feedback in a small team environment
• Knowledge of social media and digital video platforms
• Recommended: Understanding of digital analytics and how to evaluate the sales lift resulting from your creative
