Summary

G5 Games seeks an experienced 2D Illustrator for a remote role on their semi-realistic HOG project. Responsibilities include developing diverse artwork (from simple thought bubbles to complex compositions), collaborating with outsourcing teams, and working within a semi-realistic style. Candidates must possess at least 3 years of gaming development experience, preferably in semi-realistic styles, and fluency in Russian. The role requires strong knowledge of anatomy, composition, visual storytelling, costume design, and emotional expression, plus proficiency in Photoshop and understanding of artistic principles (color, light, perspective, proportions). Additional skills such as 3D knowledge, comic experience, or storyboard experience are beneficial.
Must have:
  • 3+ years gaming experience (semi-realistic preferred)
  • Fluency in Russian
  • Strong artistic skills (anatomy, composition, storytelling)
  • Photoshop proficiency
  • Adaptable to semi-realism style
Good to have:
  • Basic 3D knowledge
  • Comic/Storyboard experience

Job description

G5 Games is a game developer and publisher headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. We have over 850+ talented professionals worldwide who work remotely or in one of our 10 locations. More than 20 years ago, the company became one of the first mobile game developers in the world. 

You may know us from hit projects like Sherlock, Hidden City®, Mahjong Journey®, The Secret Society®, the Jewels series, and many others. 

We are currently looking for an experienced 2D Illustrator (remote) to join one of our semi-realistic project and will work on creation of illustrations and characters.  

What you will work on:

  • Develop a variety of art, from simple thought bubbles to complex multi-figure compositions for loadings;
  • Work in a team and collaborate with outsourcers;
  • Work in semi-realistic style.

It’s important to us:

  • Gaming development experience at least 3 years, experience in a semi-realistic style is preferred;
  • Fluency in Russian;
  • Ability to adapt the working style to the project's tasks (semi-realism).

Extensive knowledge necessary to work within the specialty:

  • Knowledge of anatomy;
  • Understanding of the composition rules;
  • Visual storytelling skills;
  • Familiarity with the history and design of costume;
  • Ability to draw emotions.

 Mastery of basic artistic disciplines and tools:

  • Understanding of the color and light rules;
  • Understanding of linear and aerial perspective;
  • Understanding of proportions;
  • General visual art skills: lighting, form, conveying the characteristics of materials, etc.;
  • Handing over the cut to the animators;
  • Professional Photoshop skills.

Would be a great bonus:

  • Basic 3D knowledge;
  • Passion for comics;
  • Experience in developing storyboards;
  • Experience working with neural networks, experience with Stable Diffusion.
