Perplexity, a rapidly growing AI-powered answer engine, seeks experienced Applied AI & ML Engineers to build the next generation of personalization. This role focuses on enhancing user satisfaction by making content highly relevant, personal, and inspiring. Responsibilities include architecting and building personalization platforms and models, developing data and models for LLM content to drive customized recommendations, and working across the stack to deliver scalable and performant models from LLM to DNN. Collaboration with product managers and partner team engineers is crucial for fast and high-quality deliverables.

Must Have:

Strong programming skills across recommendation/LLM stack
Experience training DNN and Transformer models
Experience with LLM APIs (fine-tuning, prompt mining)
Understands model trade-offs
Self-motivated and takes ownership
Passion for shipping quality products
4+ years of industry experience

Perplexity is seeking experienced Applied AI&ML Engineers to help build next generation of personalization experience. In this role, you'll focus on improving user happiness on Perplexity by making the content highly relevant, personal and inspiring.

Responsibilities

Architect and build the next generation of personalization platform and models which serves as the foundation of highly personalized Perplexity user journey
Build effective data and models for LLM content and convert them into personalized ML signals which drives customized recommendation
Work across stack to deliver various types of models (LLM to DNN) to end users in a scalable and performant way
Partner with product managers and partner team engineers to ensure fast and high quality deliverable to end users

Qualifications

Strong programming skills with the ability to work across the stack in a typical recommendation system or LLM stack
Experience in training DNN and Transformer architecture models
Experience in working with other LLM APIs to complete tasks like fine tuning, prompt mining or prototyping new ideas
Understands how to make tradeoffs in using different models
Self-motivated with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
A passion for shipping quality products
4+ years of industry experience

The cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $280,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.
