Role description:

This role is part of Arcadis’ Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis’ offices globally. The CAD Engineer, in our Energy Networks & Renewables team will, under the direction of the Overhead line, Underground Cable, Plant, Protection & Control, or Civil engineers, work on electrical transmission infrastructure related projects, primarily focused on producing 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional design drawings to support development of the detailed designs, according to specified CAD and Client standards

Role accountabilities:

  • Using CAD software to draft various electrical systems in the production of electrical layouts and drawings.
  • Producing transmission (132/275/400kV) overhead line 3D wire clearance diagrams. route maps, stringset drawings, and 3D foundation drawings.
  • Producing transmission (132/275/400kV) underground cable route maps, cross sections, installation drawings, and bonding diagrams.
  • Producing transmission (132/275/400kV) substation layouts, single line diagrams, schematic drawings, layout and general arrangement and equipment drawings etc.
  • Working with a team of overhead line, underground cable, main plant, protection & control and civil engineers in supporting the development of engineering deliverables throughout various stages of the project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly motivated with the ability to budget own time and work efficiently to achieve project goals both independently and as part of project teams.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3 years+ of professional work experience in similar role with a consulting environment or transferable field.
  • Experience with Transmission (132/275/400kV) overhead and underground design and drawing production or suitable transferable skillset and experience.
  • Strong working proficiency AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Transmission (132/275/400kV) substation design and drawing production for main plant arrangements and production of valid for construction installation drawings to support the construction of the substation.
  • Preferable with additional skills in Microstation.
  • Experience with both 3D & 2D drafting.
  • Experience with x’refing, layering and preparing quantity takeoffs as required to prepare the bill of quantities (BOQ).
