This role is for a Configuration Planning Lead at Sizewell C, a major UK nuclear power project. You will drive consistency and excellence in Configuration Management (CM) by implementing and documenting repeatable processes, from planning to audits. The role involves shaping CM strategies, tackling risks, and delegating plans to a team of Configuration Leads, ensuring project-wide awareness and continuous improvement. It's a permanent, full-time position with hybrid working.

  • Tackle emerging risks, breaking down complexities and creating pragmatic solutions
  • Shape CM strategies and tailor the overarching Configuration Management Plan
  • Delegate the Configuration Management Plan to a team of Configuration Leads
  • Collaborate across teams to shape and refine the project’s technical baseline
  • Implement a strategic Configuration Management Plan, applying effective strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Guide stakeholders on their roles, responsibilities, and key dependencies around the Configuration Management strategy
  • Optimise performance and integrate product configuration across infrastructure projects

Employment basis: Permanent and the role is expected to be a full-time position.

Working pattern: We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you’ll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require, typically 3 days per week, though this may vary by team or project. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.

Salary: Starting from £78,000 dependent on experience plus bonus and other benefits.

Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Project in Suffolk is the UK’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

This role is all about driving consistency and excellence in Configuration Management (CM). You’ll drive success by implementing well-planned, consistent, repeatable processes to be applied effectively across all Configuration Management functions. This includes planning and identification through to change control, status tracking, and audits.

As Configuration Planning Lead, you'll ensure these processes are documented in the overarching Configuration Management Plan. You key focus is driving practical, continuous improvement throughout every phase of the project.

The Role

In this role you'll dive into diverse areas, connecting with stakeholders to ensure project-wide awareness and implementation of our Configuration Management arrangements. You’ll tackle emerging risks head-on, breaking down complexities and creating pragmatic solutions that keep the projects moving forward.

As the Configuration Planning Lead, you’ll work closely with stakeholders to shape CM strategies and tailor the overarching Configuration Management Plan. You’ll stay ahead of emerging risks, delivering practical solutions and breaking down complexities and challenges to drive smart, efficient decisions.

You’ll delegate the Configuration Management Plan to a team of Configuration Leads who will support and execute this across all areas of the project. By collaborating across teams, you’ll help to shape and refine the project’s technical baseline as a part of Sizewell C’s technical journey,

What You’ll Do:

You’ll be at the forefront of implementing a strategic Configuration Management Plan. Applying effective strategies, policies, and procedures across the project.

A leader in your field. Stakeholders will seek your guidance to understand their roles, responsibilities, and key dependencies around the Configuration Management strategy.

The Skills

  • Knowledge of Configuration Management standards (such as ISO 10007, EIA 649, GEIA-HB-649).
  • Capable of defining policies, plan and procedures tailored to the projects needs.
  • Capable of defining Configuration Management related procedures pragmatically aligned with project needs.
  • Skilled in interpreting and implementing engineering procedures.
  • An understanding of engineering within large scale infrastructure projects.

Desirable

  • In-depth knowledge of Configuration Managements standards and guidance.
  • Knowledge of industry guidance on Configuration Management topics.
  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
