Job Details

We’re a venture-backed indie studio working on a surreal card game set inside your own dreaming mind. It combines the best elements of creature collecting, TCGs, and roguelikes. We aim for the project to combine the soul of a stellar indie title with the wide appeal of the most enduring franchises, ultimately becoming a forever-game that reaches millions of players.

This role will focus on making our Discord server a warm, thriving, and inviting haven where our players can feel at home, meet each other, and give feedback on our early builds. You'll work directly with our CEO to organize community events, moderate discussions, and serve as the bridge between our development team and our player base.

This is a contract position. Work will vary from week to week depending on our team’s needs. If things go well, more work may be available in the future.

Qualifications

  • You love games and the culture surrounding them deeply. You’ve played more games than you can count across genres. Bonus points if you’re a fan of tabletop or deckbuilding games. You have strong opinions about what makes gaming communities thrive.
  • You’ve managed large online communities on Discord, ideally for a games studio. You can point to specific communities you've grown, engagement metrics you've improved, or community initiatives you've launched.
  • You're an expert Discord user who knows the platform inside and out - from advanced moderation tools and bots to community engagement features and server optimization. You have strong opinions on how a Discord server should be structured.
  • You can communicate with empathy, patience, and humor and can adapt your tone from professional announcements to casual community banter. You're comfortable creating community guidelines, FAQ documents, and engaging social content. You’re “chronically online” and understand the culture, memes, and values that gamers care about.
  • You’re enthusiastic or at least open-minded about the ways the latest generative AI technologies can augment (but not replace) creative talent, and ideally have opinions about which tools are the most helpful.
  • You're ambitious. You want to be an early part of something big. Something with massive potential that players are going to absolutely love. You want to work with a game studio that pushes the envelope of games as a medium.
  • You're collaborative. You're excited to work closely with our whole team, including engineers, contract game artists, and marketers.

Bonus points if…

  • You have experience with content creation on platforms like Twitch, TikTok, and Bluesky and have scaled accounts to large followings.
  • You’re a huge fan of any of the following games: Hades, Pokemon, Pokemon TCG Pocket, Inscryption, Slay the Spire, Balatro.
  • You have interest in or experience with performing standup or improv comedy.
  • You live in or near the San Francisco Bay Area.
