As Engineering Manager for Creative Post Production at Netflix, you'll lead a high-performing team in developing innovative post-production workflows for live-action movies. You'll provide technical vision, strategy, and oversight, ensuring efficient and scalable solutions for Dailies, Editorial, and other post-production processes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in architectural decisions, and mentor your team to achieve operational excellence and creative success.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience in creating team roadmaps and OKRs.
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional partners
  • Ability to create scalable solutions to streamline product requirements
  • Thoughtful leadership with experience in hiring, coaching, and retaining strong engineering talent
  • A strong partner for engineering leaders.
  • Experience in building distributed cloud-based applications.
Good to have:
  • Experience working in any studios and/or built studio productions-facing tools.
  • Domain exposure to Post production media workflows on Movies/TV Series/Unscripted etc.
  • Experience working with AI/ML algorithms and integrating them with human in the loop workflows.

The Role

Studio Production Engineering (SPE) plays a pivotal role in Netflix's content creation and delivery journey. The seamless magic of your favorite show starting with a click is the result of thousands of intricate processes and workflows behind the scenes that are enabled by our tools. We empower Netflix studios to bring creative excellence to life - develop tools to achieve operational excellence and economies of scale. Our solutions aim to elevate the ROI of the $15 billion dollars spent on content creation through cost/time efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. 

The Creative Post Production team, a part of the Studio Production Platforms portfolio, is tasked with developing various post production workflows to make the process of live action movie production more efficient. This includes Dailies, Editorial and other areas involved in post production.

Scope of the role

  • Provide technical vision, strategy, and execution oversight for the Creative Post Production team

  • Support your team by helping them understand priorities, drive down ambiguity, bring focus, provide context, and empower them to bring their best and create impact.

  • Build strong and productive relationships with cross-functional teams and be a thought partner, and sounding board for your team,  partners and stakeholders.

  • Balance immediate stakeholder needs vs longer-term vision

  • Participate in architecture decisions for technology innovation - taking projects from concept to launch.

  • Coach and lead a dream team of UI, backend, and full-stack engineers. 

  • Nurture an inclusive team culture and mentor this team through a supportive mindset, thoughtful observation, and courageous, honest feedback.

Must-Have

  • 3+ years of people management experience.

  • Experience in creating team roadmaps and OKRs, and prioritizing effectively. 

  • Experience working closely with various cross-functional partners including product, design, data science, and stakeholders across time zones.

  • Ability to create scalable solutions to streamline product requirements and user feedback.

  • Thoughtful leadership with experience in hiring, coaching, and retaining strong engineering talent with various needs for personal and professional growth.

  • A strong partner for engineering leaders, equally passionate about working with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

  • Experience in building distributed cloud based applications.

Bonus Experience:

  • Experience working in any studios and/or built studio productions-facing tools.

  • Domain exposure to Post production media workflows on Movies/TV Series/Unscripted etc.

These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. 

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $190,000 - $920,000. 

This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment. Learn more .
