Job Description

The Environment Health & Safety Coordinator develops and implements environmental safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include conducting EHS training, collecting and reporting EHS metrics, conducting safety walks, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, overseeing contractor management, following up on hazard reports, identifying hazards and developing mitigation plans, and supporting safety culture. The role also involves managing first aid supplies, fire suppression systems, PPE, and conducting safety committee meetings. Special projects and attending meetings are also part of the job.
Good To Have:
  • Relevant certifications such as CSP or CIH.

As part of this team, you’ll develop and provide training, continually enhance program quality, and ensure seamless operations and service excellence, empowering pilots, aircrew, and mission-critical teams to excel when it matters most.

In this role, the Environment Health & Safety Coordinator develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

The role we are offering you:

  • Conduct EHS related trainings including new employee orientation, emergency response training, heat illness training, first aid, and other trainings as necessary in collaboration with appropriate departments.

  • Collect and report EHS related metrics including hours worked, electricity usage, water, gas, and other environmental metrics.

  • Conduct regular safety walks including supporting “Leadership in Action” walks with local leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures through collaboration with various departments.

  • Oversee contractor management safety program by managing vetting of contractors through third-party service (Cogni-Box), reviewing job hazard analysis and conducting inspections of work.

  • Follow up on hazard reports and identify solutions to mitigate hazards.  This may include installation or replacement of materials within the facility.

  • Identify potential hazards in work areas and develop mitigation plans.

  • Ensure closure of action items released via “Learning from Event” publications from Global Environmental Safety and Health team.

  • Ensure proper rollout of new programs released from the Global Environmental Safety and Health team including gap assessments, training, and self-audits.

  • Support positive development of safety culture both in the maintenance department and the academic building.

  • Manage supply of first aid kits and heat mitigation materials.

  • Manage fire suppression system and elevator inspection schedules.

  • Assist in management of supply of PPE.

  • Conduct local safety committee meetings.

  • Carry out special projects as necessary.

  • Attend various meetings as necessary.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 2 - 5 years of Environment Health & Safety experience

  • An Associate or Technical degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, aviation management, or a related field

  • Relevant certifications a plus: eg. include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or credentials specific to environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)

  • Previous experience in safety and environmental management, preferably within the aviation industry but not required.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and safety program development.

  • Familiarity with local, national, and international aviation safety and environmental regulations (e.g., FAA regulations, OSHA standards, EPA regulations).

  • Ability to conduct safety audits and inspections and create reports.

  • Ability to identify safety issues and develop practical solutions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including management, staff, and regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to conduct training sessions and safety briefings including new hire orientations.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead safety initiatives.

  • Ability to travel 5% - 10% of the year
