Job Description

The Franchise Archives Graduate Intern will support the Franchise Archive Teams by cataloging physical media (film, video, stills), tracking scan priorities, and documenting archival projects. Responsibilities include inspecting and inventorying archival materials, conducting collection research using internal and external sources, attending archive meetings, and rehousing materials like 35mm slides and negatives. The intern will assist film and stills departments with preservation and collection management, utilizing strong organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects. This hybrid role involves working onsite in Novato & San Francisco offices and occasionally from home. The internship runs from early June 2025 to August 2025.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a collaborative and creative team player who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, and passion for great storytelling and filmmaking that define Lucasfilm. The Franchise Archive Graduate Intern will be primarily responsible for supporting the Franchise Archive Teams, cataloging physical media, tracking scan priorities, and documenting projects for archival material. The Franchise Asset team preserves, curates and modernizes the archival library, while commissioning new imagery to tell a visually compelling story, provide accurate reference and preserve a historical legacy.  These assets are released in alignment with Lucasfilm’s overall strategy and creative vision.

This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work onsite in our Novato & San Francisco office locations and occasionally from home.

What you’ll do

  • Inspection, inventory, and cataloging of archival film, video and stills materials

  • General support for film and stills department activities related to preservation and collection management

  • Collection research utilizing in-house dataset and outside sources

  • Attend regular Archive check-in meetings to remain coordinated with the Asset teams and provide updates. 

  • Rehousing of archival materials such 35mm slides and negatives


What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree 

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience with asset/database management 

  • Demonstrates strong organizational and oral/written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask over multiple projects

  • Demonstrate strong computer skills. Proficient in Google Suite

  • Demonstrates the ability to work with hands on delicate tasks

  • Basic knowledge of Live Action Film Production, as well as analog and digital moving image media handling and identification

  • Working knowledge of still and moving image cataloging and digital asset management systems

  • Photoshop knowledge a plus

  • Working knowledge of digitization of historical, archival, and cultural content is considered a plus

  • Must sign NDA and follow all security measures to protect company IP and strategy
     

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
     

Additional Information

  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • The approximate dates of this internship are early June 2025- August 2025

  • Must provide own housing and reliable transportation during the internship in the San Francisco, CA  area


The pay rate for this role in San Francisco, CA is $33.40 per hour.
