DIGIC is seeking a seasoned FX Supervisor to guide the look, feel, and technical execution of FX for the "Magic: The Gathering" Netflix series. The role involves leading creative and technical direction, supervising and mentoring FX artists using Houdini, defining workflows, reviewing work for consistency, collaborating with other department leads, and managing production coordination and scheduling. The ideal candidate will help develop and test tools and pipelines as needed. This position offers the chance to work on a globally recognized Netflix series with an experienced, international award-winning team, providing opportunities for mentorship and growth.
Must have:
- Lead FX creative and technical direction
- Supervise and mentor FX artists (Houdini)
- Define FX workflows and production guidance
- Review FX and ensure artistic vision consistency
- Collaborate with other department leads
- Manage production coordination and scheduling
- Strong portfolio of FX supervision
- Expert in Houdini
- Fluent in English
Good to have:
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine, Maya, Nuke
- Experience with episodic or streaming content
- Technical pipeline knowledge
- Tool development experience
- Strong artistic eye and timing sense

📍 Remote (max ±2h from CET) or based in Hungary | Freelance or Employment
DIGIC is crafting a unique, stylised world for the Magic: The Gathering Netflix series — and we’re looking for a seasoned FX Supervisor to guide the look, feel, and technical execution of this fantasy universe’s most magical moments.
Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the creative and technical direction of FX across the show
- Supervise and mentor artists working on stylised FX (Houdini-based)
- Define workflows and provide guidance for high-quality FX production
- Review, give feedback, and ensure consistency with the show's artistic vision
- Work closely with other department leads (Lighting, Animation, Compositing)
- Act as the go-to contact for production coordination, scheduling, and asset planning
- Help develop and test tools/pipelines when needed
Essential skills
What we’re looking for:
- Strong portfolio of FX supervision on animated or stylised projects
- Expert in Houdini; good knowledge of Unreal Engine, Maya, Nuke
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of FX artists
- Solid understanding of FX workflows for stylised content
- Great communication, feedback, and planning skills
- Fluent in English (spoken & written)
- Freelancers must be registered and invoice-compliant under Hungarian law
- Must be based in Hungary or within ±2 hours of CET
Desirable skills
Bonus if you have:
- Experience working on episodic or streaming content
- Technical pipeline knowledge and tool dev experience
- Strong artistic eye and timing sense in stylised simulations
