The Global Operations Strategy Manager will develop and execute strategies for Seeds R&D's global operational performance, optimize capacity, implement performance management systems, enhance operational efficiency, and foster continuous improvement. This role involves leading strategic operational projects, managing a team, advising senior leadership, and ensuring alignment between R&D and commercial supply chain processes. The manager will also be responsible for driving increased performance through the development, design, and implementation of performance systems and metrics packages for connected operations. The role requires excellent financial acumen and the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations strategy or supply chain management.
  • Expert knowledge of performance management systems and continuous improvement.
  • Track record of developing and implementing global operations strategies.
  • Excellent financial acumen, operational budgeting and cost optimization.

Job Details

Syngenta Seeds R&D is seeking a visionary and experienced leader with a track record of driving increased performance through the development, design, and implementation of performance systems and metrics packages for connected operations. This person will drive our global operations strategy and performance improvement initiatives. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and operational excellence across our R&D operations worldwide. 

As the Global Operations Strategy Manager, you will:

  1. Lead Global Strategy and Implementation
    • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for Seeds R&D's global operational performance.
    • Optimize capacity across nursery sites and serve as the global change control authority.
       
  2. Drive Performance Management and Operational Excellence
    • Implement robust performance management systems and global reporting processes.
    • Enhance operational efficiency through systems improvements and automation.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lead strategic operational projects.
       
  3. Provide Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Manage a small direct team while indirectly leading regional operations globally.
    • Advise senior leadership on operational strategy and transformation.
    • Ensure alignment between R&D and commercial supply chain processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations strategy, supply chain management, or related fields, with a focus on R&D or high-tech industries.
  • Expert knowledge of performance management systems and continuous improvement methodologies and project management.
  • Track record of developing and implementing successful global operations strategies.
  • Excellent financial acumen, operational budgeting and cost optimization, ideally in R&D environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics tools relevant to operations.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 30%).
