Job Description

As a Hardware Validation Engineer I, you will be a key member of the Validation team, responsible for ensuring that every product and system is evaluated, tested, and validated. You will develop Validation Test Procedures (VTP) and comprehensive test plans, collaborate with Research & Development and other teams, and ensure the execution of all testing. Your technical expertise will be key in identifying issues, working with multi-functional teams to resolve them. You will work with various teams, using your communication skills in a multidisciplinary team environment. Responsibilities include developing test plans, incorporating Statistical Analysis, reviewing product requirements, testing product capabilities, troubleshooting firmware/software or hardware issues, participating in field testing, providing status updates, and supporting failure analysis. You will design and hone Validation Test Procedures, execute all Validation Tests, document results, and work with external labs.
Must have:
  • Develop comprehensive test plans for our products
  • Experience with identifying, documenting, and reporting bugs or issues
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or associated discipline
  • Review & provide input into System & Product Requirements.
Good to have:
  • Familiar with Project Management skill set, certified PMP a plus
  • Familiar with Bug and Test Tracking Suites such as JIRA a plus
  • Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, a plus

Your Impact

As a key member of our Validation team, your work will be essential in helping us ensure every product and system is evaluated, tested and validated to ensure it meets our internal and customer expectations. We will look to you to help us develop Validation Test Procedures (VTP) that drive the testing of our products and build comprehensive test plans to cover all aspects of system level test. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Research & Development and other teams as you set the plan and ensure execution of all testing. Your technical expertise will be key in evaluating our products, identifying issues as you work with multi-functional teams to ensure all issues are resolved. You will be working with R&D Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Supply Chain, which will offer you the opportunity to use your effective communication skills across different levels in our dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.

What You’ll Do
Location: Onsite at our Deer Valley, Arizona location
Reports to: Manager, Hardware Validation Engineering
Direct Reports: none

  • Develop comprehensive test plans for our products
  • Incorporate Statistical Analysis into Validation Testing
  • Review & provide input into System & Product Requirements.
  • Test Axon product capabilities & features to confirm requirements are met and ensure a smooth customer experience.
  • Understanding troubleshooting firmware/software or hardware issue at a system level.
  • Participate in occasional field testing of Axon products
  • Work with a team of skilled technicians to ensure timely execution of the test plans
  • Provide status updates and final reporting of validation efforts
  • Leverage Engineering background to improve tests and processes
  • Design and hone Validation Test Procedures with an emphasis on repeatability, standardization, and accuracy of testing
  • Execute all Validation Tests – including Firmware/Software, Mechanical, Environmental, and Electrical
  • Document and report all test status and results to the Engineering teams
  • Support Failure Analysis (FA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on issues found in test
  • Work with external labs to coordinate required testing
  • Implement and maintain 5S Standard for lab organization and management
  • Develop customer usage models of all products

What You Bring

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or associated discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with validation or qualification testing
  • Experience with identifying, reproducing, documenting, and reporting bugs or issues
  • Experience presenting test plan and requirements to stakeholders
  • Understanding of Product Development Life Cycle
  • Familiar with Project Management skill set, certified PMP a plus
  • Familiar with Bug and Test Tracking Suites such as JIRA a plus
  • Experience with manufacturing and assembly process
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent skills in MS Office products
  • Ability to influence multi-functional organizations
  • Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt , a plus
