HP is an industry leader in sustainability and has announced ambitious goals to address Climate, Human Rights, and the Digital Divide. HP is expanding our Climate Team to include a Forest Data Management and Auditing Lead to take ownership for: 1) meeting our external Forest goals, 2) performing FSC audits, 3) tracking and managing data for regulatory and reporting requirements, and 4) gathering, processing, and managing forest conservation-related metrics from our NGO partners, including World Wildlife Fund, Conservation International, and Arbor Day Foundation.  This person will report to the Climate Director and will work with the Forest Program Expert to contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas that can help drive HP’s Forest-related long-term goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Own all aspects of the Forest Program’s data management tools and processes to meet regulatory and reporting requirements, including implementation of SOX-level controls.
  • Ensure that data and data management practices continue to evolve to meet regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Develop metrics for tracking progress to our program goals and requirements.
  • Create regular reports, summaries, and updates on the metrics to the Climate Team as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain FSC’s auditing process – e.g., perform audits, maintain and update documentation.
  • Provide forest-related data to other teams to meet customer, reporting and regulatory needs.
  • Perform subject matter review for internal and external forest-related documents (e.g., customer reports, FAQs).

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's in Forestry, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Data Science, or other relevant field.
  • 4+ years of experience in forest data management and auditing.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of data management systems, the forest products industry, forest policy, nature-based solutions, forest ecology, conservation and natural resource data science, political ecology, and externalities including regulatory and standards developments.
  • Knowledge of FSC certification process
  • Experience in project management, including managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including Excel, SmartSheet, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and perform in a fast-paced, often-changing environment, self-motivated, ability to learn quickly and work nimbly and to tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification
  • MBA or Master level business or equivalent experience in finance or accounting
