Job Description

The Security Project Manager will be responsible for the design and coordination of security systems and technology projects. This role involves managing vendors, driving standards, and ensuring the protection of Applied Materials. Key responsibilities include developing project schedules, tracking progress, managing budgets, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This individual must have strong technical expertise in physical security systems and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and lead a team. They will also need to demonstrate sound judgment and effective time management and collaborate with other management groups to solve issues.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of experience managing physical security projects.
  • Certifications in Project Management (PMP) or security standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of security systems (C-Cure, Access Control).
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of construction and facility management processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Scope of Position

This role requires a unique combination of security, construction, project management, and leadership skills in the design and coordination of security systems and technology projects, to protect Applied Materials around the world.  The Security Project Manager must think holistically about security systems and how they impact the employee and visitor experience. This role will drive standards, modernization, and lifecycle initiatives through expert management of security vendors to meet stakeholders’ expectations.

Project Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines.
  • Track project progress and identify potential risks and issues.
  • Proactively address challenges and implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage project budgets and resources effectively.

Technical Expertise

  • Possess a strong understanding of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems.
  • Review and approve design packages, ensuring adherence to industry standards and business  requirements.
  • Coordinate with design teams to develop accurate and detailed design documentation.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of appropriate equipment and materials.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet high standards.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance reviews and audits.
  • Identify and address quality issues promptly.

Business  Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with business  to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Proactively address business  concerns and resolve issues.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide team members to ensure optimal performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team progress.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and effective time management
  • Must have 100% credibility, objectivity and respect across all parts of the business
  • Ability to collaborate with other management groups (IT, HR, Finance, Legal)
  • Willingness to challenge status quo, innovate and introduce new ideas
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience managing physical security projects.
  • Certifications in Project Management (PMP) or security industry standards (e.g., CPP, CSPM).
  • Strong technical knowledge of security systems (C-Cure, , Access Control, ).
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., SmartSheets,  CAD, BlueBeam, Auto Desk).
  • Knowledge of construction and facility management processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
