Job Summary:

The Firmware Developer role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic engineering team in a fast environment, developing innovative Internet of Things (IoT) connected products for the commercial and luxury residential markets. Each product consists of hardware, firmware, mobile app, and cloud components, designed by the IoT engineering team.

As WAC Lighting continues to honor its 40-year commitment to leadership in cutting edge technology within our industry, we are expanding our world-class team of IoT professionals. As part of this endeavor, we seek an 2-4 Year experienced Firmware Engineer with IoT Systems experience. This new position is based in our IoT Technology Center in Austin, Texas.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop well-tested, efficient, and maintainable embedded C code.
  • Collaborate closely with QA to design or author automated tests for embedded C modules.
  • Develop applications using Bluetooth, proprietary or Wi-Fi protocols.
  • Work with hardware engineers to design, test and troubleshoot prototype designs.
  • Function cross-departmentally on multiple projects simultaneously.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Embedded Firmware engineering.
  • Solid programming experience in C/C++
  • Experience with microcontrollers and in-circuit debugging.
  • Strong applied knowledge of various networking and hardware communication protocols such as SPI, UART, I2C, JTAG.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with GIT.
  • Experience interfacing embedded devices with cloud environments.
  • Experience working with FreeRTOS systems.
  • Automated testing experience.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to be a process-oriented and creative problem solver.
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Mandarin language skill is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability for International and Domestic travel as needed.
