We are seeking a skilled KDB Developer with strong hands-on experience with KDB+/q.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $130k – CAD $140k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Work with business Stakeholders to build new and maintain existing real-time and historical data services and statistical functions on top of the data.
- Develop an in depth understanding of existing analytical libraries and help to broaden current offering.
- Add new features and enhance existing functionality to KDB+/q framework for server and client-side applications used by capital markets.
- Identify and implement solutions to optimize performance maintaining fast query execution.
- Meet deadlines in support of a fast-moving release cycle.
- Leverage new technologies like big data stack, machine learning, cloud, and approaches with continuous improvement in mind.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with KDB+/q with at least 3+ years of recent experience in financial services. Solid understanding of equites trading/trading floor environment.
- Strong experience with designing scalable & highly available enterprise data platform to handle fast moving real-time queries as well as multiple year historical query.
- Good Understanding of Capital Market products including Reference and Transaction data.
- Good working knowledge of Linux environments and scripting languages such as Bash, and Perl.
- Experience with Agile methodology and tools such as SVN, Git, Jenkins, Nexus and Jira.
- Ideal candidate has an aptitude for performing analytics on very large data sets, typically time series data.
Preferred, but not required:
- Good communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Python is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Pre and Post trade analytics, machine learning and pattern recognition is advantageous.
- Understanding of build and deployment management.
