Job Description

Google seeks a Lead Technical Program Manager for Campus Planning. This role requires leading a 10-member team responsible for generating global campus plans for Google's production network. Responsibilities encompass evolving business processes, defining governing policies (architecture, hardware lifecycle, capacity targets), driving software roadmap automation, defining key metrics, and leading improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects. A background in network planning, coding (SQL, R, Go, or Python), and experience with system/process requirements definition are essential.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role with/without direct reports.
  • Experience in coding and frameworks including SQL, R, Go or Python.
  • Experience defining system or process requirements, building, integrating, or delivering layer 1, layer 2, or layer 3 network systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional/team projects.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of the technical and process challenges associated with network planning.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Financial skills e.g business/ project budget creation and cost-benefit analysis.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 10 members who are collectively responsible for the generation of all campus plans for Google’s global production network.
  • Evolve the business processes governing the generation of campus plans, throughout their lifecycle (input gathering, generation, validation, publication, handoff), specifically including the definition of the business policies that govern them (architectural/topology, hardware lifecycle, capacity/utilization target, failure policy).
  • Drive the software roadmap of all automatable tasks performed by the team, substantially reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency.
  • Define and instrument key business metrics for the team, continuously analyze them to derive insights and improvements initiatives.
