About The Global Legal Investigations (GLI) team is focused on ByteDance's critical imperative to build, earn, and maintain trust with our stakeholders around the world through effective intake, assessment, investigation, and resolution of business conduct compliance concerns. The GLI team works closely with our Global Legal Compliance (GLC) team and cross-functional partners to ensure ByteDance's compliance with legal and ethical standards globally. We are looking for an experienced attorney to join our GLI team and help us manage complex and sensitive investigations involving our products, services, and employees. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where your legal, analytical, organizational, and investigative skills will play an impactful role in tackling some of the most complex, interesting, and cutting-edge business conduct compliance issues in the technology sector. This is a full-time role and will be based in our Singapore office. Responsibilities - Conduct Global Legal Investigations: Independently conduct thorough and objective investigations into potential legal and ethical violations within the company, working across borders and jurisdictions as necessary. - Risk Assessment: Identify, analyze, and evaluate potential legal and compliance risks, providing recommendations to leadership to mitigate risks and improve internal controls. - Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, human resources, internal audit and other internal/external stakeholders, to gather information, coordinate efforts, and ensure consistent and effective investigations. - Documentation: Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive reports documenting investigations, findings, and recommendations for corrective actions, as well as any potential legal implications. - Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to increase awareness and understanding of legal and compliance issues, fostering a culture of ethics and integrity throughout the company. - Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and technology industry trends to ensure the company's adherence to changing legal requirements. - Legal Advice: Provide legal guidance and counsel to GLI team, management, and other stakeholders on various legal matters related to investigations, compliance, and risk management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Qualified to practice law in Singapore or any other common law jurisdiction. - Strong knowledge of corporate law and compliance regulations. - Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed and thorough investigations, including evidence collection, analysis, and interviews, while maintaining objectivity and ensuring confidentiality. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify legal risks, evaluate complex situations, and provide effective solutions. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures - High moral and ethical standards, as well as commitment to conducting investigations with professionalism and impartiality. - Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize workflow with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with the Technology / Media / Telecommunications sector, ideally in an international organization - Experience working on complex litigation matters, preferably in the areas of white collar work or other civil/criminal matters - Experience working for a government regulator or prosecutor's office --- ByteDance is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.
