Job Purpose

Company 3/Method Inc is seeking a Linux System Engineer you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Participate in administration of backup operations.
• Maintain floating license servers.
• Apply OS and firmware patches and upgrades.
• Upgrade and configure infrastructure systems and software per as needed.
• Maintain server room and colocation facility environmental and monitoring equipment.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
  
  

Experience Required

• Linux experience 2-3years (Centos, RHEL, Ubuntu, Suse)
• Samba and NFS configuration in multiplatform environment
• Mac OS and Windows application deployment and integration is a plus
• Strong working knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter & Horizon View
• Knowledge of Windows 10 OS including installation and configuration.
• Windows Server OS and Active Directory.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux including command line.
• An understanding of servers, networking, storage and render systems for troubleshooting purposes.
• Beginner to intermediate level with automated rendering systems (Qube, Deadline, Rush, Muster, Smedge, etc)
  
  

Desirable Requirements

• Python coding
• Shell scripting
• LAN/WAN networking
• Experience of troubleshooting creative programs such as Maya, Houdini, Photoshop, Nuke, Fusion
• Experience working in an Animation / VFX production studio an asset
  
  

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience and skill-set:

• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
• Redhat Certified System Engineer (RHCE) is must
• Other certifications like MCSE, CCNA etc is plus.
• Hands on experience of managing 200+ workstation is plus.
