Omitron is seeking a Network Engineer to support the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Network Engineer will design, engineer, deploy, monitor, and support network infrastructure and virtual server environments. Responsibilities include installing and administering routers, switches, and firewalls, developing network security guidelines, analyzing network performance, and providing expert guidance in the design and implementation of network solutions. The role also involves maintaining network architecture and offering technical insights.
Must have:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification.
  • Current CCNA or JNCIA with 3+ years experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols.
Good to have:
  • CCNP or JNCIP-ENT certification.
  • Familiarity with VxLAN, SD-WAN, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of HAIPE Type 1 encryption devices.
  • Experience with IP fabrics and Apstra.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with government and contract teams.

Job Details

Omitron is seeking a Network Engineer to support the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This highly qualified and self-motivated individual will design, engineer, deploy, monitor, and support network infrastructure and virtual server environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing and administering routers, switches, and firewalls; developing network security guidelines; and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, system administrators, developers, and testers. This is an exciting opportunity to support the future of U.S. space operations while applying advanced networking knowledge in a dynamic environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, engineer, install, configure, and remove switches, routers, and firewalls in both operational and test lab environments.
  • Utilize enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, WireShark, Apstra, and Paragon Active Assurance to analyze network performance and resolve issues.
  • Apply broad technical knowledge of diverse business areas in assessing networking technologies, hardware, and protocols.
  • Provide expert guidance and direction in the design and implementation of network solutions; maintain specific enterprise network architecture.
  • Establish and maintain strategic network standards; recommend enhancements; analyze and optimize system performance.
  • Offer high-level technical insight to leadership and teams on leveraging network technologies to meet evolving needs.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • US Citizenship required
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; must be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering) and 12+ years of relevant experience; OR
    • Master’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; OR
    • 12+ years of directly relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Certifications:
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification
    • Current CCNA or JNCIA with 3+ years of experience
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio
    • Strong understanding of OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, WAN networking, and SDN (especially VMware distributed switching)
    • Experience with DISA or telecom provider interface
    • Knowledge of Layer-2 and Layer-3 networks from both network and system admin perspectives
    • Familiarity with Agile or DevOps project management
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNP or JNCIP-ENT certification
  • Familiarity with VxLAN, SD-WAN (128T/SSR), and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Working knowledge of HAIPE Type 1 encryption devices
  • Experience with IP fabrics and Apstra
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to synthesize and present technical findings
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with government and contract teams
 
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $165,000 to $200,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
