As a Policy Specialist, you will work to develop, launch, and implement fair and consistent policies that protect the online safety of our users, advertisers, and publishers. You will advise internal Google teams on core principles, design policies and standards to address abuse risks and enable responsible growth. In addition, you will engage with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders across Google to design thoughtful cross-product area approaches on key priorities. You will resolve high-profile policy issues, coming from the public, users and internal stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure policy analysis and recommendations consider all teams’ perspectives. You will lead, develop and implement content policies for Google products, with a view towards user safety, product quality and privacy. You will anticipate policy issues in various controversial content areas as it relates to our product and technology platforms and develop policies and enforcement recommendations on how to address them. You will review or be exposed to sensitive or graphic content as part of core role.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment
  • Ability to translate complex issues into simple and clear language
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Good to have:
  • JD, MBA, or Master’s degree
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy
  • Navigate organizational boundaries
  • Attention to detail in an ever-changing environment

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$150,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
