Inkitt is building the Disney of the 21st Century, leveraging AI and predictive algorithms to discover unknown stories and turn them into blockbuster hits. The company produces a new $1M ebook every 4 weeks and sells directly to consumers through its Galatea app, boasting a 40x higher hit-rate than traditional publishers. Recently expanding into CandyJarTV, Inkitt aims to become a next-gen entertainment powerhouse. The Screenwriter will write or adapt vertical microdrama scripts, create compelling dialogue, and collaborate with development and marketing to ensure marketable moments that drive viewership and retention, translating classic romance tropes into addictive, binge-worthy episodes.
Must have:
  • Write one new vertical microdrama script every 5 weeks, or edit and adapt existing scripts.
  • Create compelling, fast-paced dialogue that resonates with a mobile-first audience.
  • Collaborate closely with the development and marketing teams to ensure scripts deliver marketable moments that drive viewership and retention.
  • Translate classic romance tropes and fresh story concepts into addictive, binge-worthy episodes.
  • Incorporate feedback quickly and iterate to hit deadlines with precision.
  • Experience writing for another vertical microdrama company (please include samples with your submission).
  • A deep understanding of romance tropes, enemies-to-lovers dynamics, cliffhangers, and episodic hooks.
  • Familiarity with the structure and pacing of vertical dramas—able to match the rhythm, tension, and emotional beats audiences expect.
  • Skill at writing sharp, emotionally charged dialogue that feels natural and addictive in short-form episodic format.
  • A proven ability to work quickly and independently, meeting tight turnaround times without sacrificing quality.

Recently raising a Series C and backed by some of the top VC’s such as: Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, our recent expansion into CandyJarTV is only the beginning of our journey to becoming the next-gen entertainment powerhouse.

What You’ll Do

  • Write one new vertical microdrama script every 5 weeks, or edit and adapt existing scripts.
