Job Description

Job Title: SENIOR ANIMATOR 
**Note**: Final Designation/Level will be decided based on the relevant experience and interview ratings.  

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Senior Animator at Ubisoft Mumbai, you will be responsible for creating high-end quality animation on each step of the production and mentoring other animators in the team. You will collaborate with artists, designers, programmers, leads and other animators within the studio as well as work together with different Ubisoft studios across the globe.  

As part of a multinational group that specializes in player-facing products, you will have the opportunity to bring value to the Ubisoft communities and have direct impact on millions of players from the first day.  
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with both key-frame and motion capture animation within complex in-game systems by managing real-time constraints. 
  • Working in our game engine to support Gameplay Animation Systems to achieve the perfect balance between animation fidelity and gameplay responsiveness. 
  • Work closely with lead animator and interact with technical animators to define character animation pipeline needs and improvements. 
  • Mentor, coach animators in workflow, tools and share knowledge. Assist animators onboarding and ramp up as in when needed. 
  • Keep clear communication with designers and programmers to ensure work is aligned with the creative and technical direction of the game. 
  • Develop and adhere to quality review processes by taking complete ownership of assigned tasks. Receive and express feedback to other in open forums. 

THE PROFESSIONAL VALUE YOU BRING: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Animation/Art or equivalent.  
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in videogame animation or equivalent. 
  • Experience with animation software such as Motion Builder, 3ds Max or Maya.  
  • Excellent key frame animation skills with deep understanding of anatomy and motion.  
  • Experience in motion editing, manipulating motion capture data and familiar with animation workflow and integration in game engines. 
  • Varied experience in gameplay, cinematic, creature and facial animation with knowledge of state machines and blend trees. 
  • Strong ability to mentor team and collaborate effectively with all stake holders of the project. 
  • An outstanding demo reel featuring your animation skills. 

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Good understanding of character rigging and skinning will be an added advantage. 
  • Experience of version control tools and project management systems. 
  • Knowledge of Scripting, Max Script, MEL script, Python is a big plus.
