Job Description

As a Senior Lighting Artist at People Can Fly, you'll create compelling lighting that sets the mood, tells a story, and builds a coherent game world. You'll collaborate with level designers, FX artists, and engineers to achieve optimal lighting performance and visual effects. Responsibilities include designing and delivering light objects, IES textures, dynamic lighting, high-end cinematic lighting, and innovating new techniques for next-gen hardware. You'll analyze scenes for performance issues and work to optimize lighting, ensuring all aspects contribute to a high-quality, immersive gaming experience. Experience with Unreal Engine, lightmapping, and a passion for gaming are essential.
Must have:
  • Create compelling lighting and environment depth
  • Experience with various lighting techniques and tools
  • Understanding of current console generation performance
  • Create lighting content (textures, IES, HDR maps, etc.)
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers

  • Créer un éclairage captivant qui instaure une ambiance, raconte une histoire et construit un monde cohérent.
  • Appuyer les concepteurs de niveaux en fournissant un soutien en matière d’éclairage permettant d’atteindre leurs objectifs.
  • Concevoir et livrer des objets d’éclairage ainsi que des textures IES.
  • Créer un éclairage dynamique qui insuffle de la vie à l’environnement.
  • Collaborer avec le service des effets spéciaux pour créer des scènes 3D atmosphériques en utilisant la bonne palette de couleurs et d’autres éléments artistiques déterminants.
  • Créer un éclairage haut de gamme pour les séquences cinématiques.
  • Mettre au point de nouvelles techniques pour le matériel de nouvelle génération et travailler en collaboration avec les services d’ingénierie pour élargir l’ensemble d’outils requis.
  • Analyser la scène pour repérer les problèmes de performance, en veillant à ce que tous les éclairages soient optimisés autant que possible.
  • Collaborer avec le service technique et moteur pour résoudre les problèmes techniques liés aux éclairages.

Job Description:

  • Creating compelling lighting that set up mood, tells story, and makes coherent world
  • Assistance for level designers with lighting support to achieve their goals
  • Design and deliver light objects and IES textures
  • Creating dynamic lighting that brings life to environment
  • Collaborate with FX department to create atmospheric, 3D scenes with use of right color palette and other meaningful artistic choices
  • Creating high-end lighting for cut-scenes
  • Innovating new techniques for next-gen hardware and work with engineers to expand the required tool-set
  • Analyzing the scene for performance issues, ensure all lights are as optimal as possible
  • Working with the Tech/Engine department to fix technical lighting issues

Qualifications

  • Regard critique sur la profondeur de l’environnement du point de vue de l’éclairage.
  • Expérience avec un éventail de techniques et d’outils permettant d’atteindre les objectifs d’éclairage.
  • Compréhension de la performance de la génération actuelle de consoles.

Atouts

  • Au moins 2 ans d’expérience dans l’industrie du jeu vidéo dans un poste similaire.

  • Experience with a variety of techniques and tools that helps to achieve lighting goals
  • An understanding of performance of current console generation
  • Ability to create all content needed for lighting (textures, IES, HDR maps, materials, scripts, etc.)
  • Ability to work with artists, designers, and programmers to work through artistic and technical challenges
  • Experience with generating light-maps, baked lighting
  • Follow Unreal Engine technical news
  • High work ethic and self motivated
  • Passion for games
  • Language: English

Preferred Skills

  • At least 2 years of video game industry experience in a related position
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine is a plus
  • Shipped-title experience
