The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of AAA technical audio design experience, advanced understanding of UE5, Blueprints, Wwise, and DAWs, strong audio engineering principles, and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Cloud Chamber is looking for a Senior Technical Voice Designer to join our multidisciplinary audio team to implement and optimize the audio assets for BioShock 4. Reporting to our Lead Technical Audio Designer, you will collaborate closely with the team to ensure audio assets function seamlessly with the game’s systems, as well as establish and maintain technical best practices and associated content. You will use your combined knowledge of sound design and technical skills to support the overall creative vision of the game and help us bring our audio landscape and to the player ensuring that audio contributes meaningfully to the player experience.

Job Duties: 

  • Work closely with developers to integrate dialogue into the game. This includes setting up triggers for player actions or game events.
  • Create, implement, and maintain all audio-related systems and associated content.
  • Write scripts to implement complex audio behaviors.
  • Ensure that audio files are optimized; balancing quality with performance goals.
  • Create or customize tools that allow designers to work more efficiently, from exporting recording scripts, to setting up dialogue file structures.
  • Help design dynamic and interactive audio systems that respond to player actions and dynamic character behaviours.
  • Implement, fine-tune, and troubleshoot audio assets to ensure they function properly in the game.
  • Collaborate with the audio Director and Leads, the audio engineering team, and audio content teams to ensure that audio integrates well into the game engine and functions as intended.
  • Ensure that all audio assets are created, integrated, and mixed to specifications following best practices.
  • Ensure audio systems, tools, workflows are well designed, refined and documented to maximize quality and use of resources.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience in AAA technical audio design roles with increasing seniority.
  • Experience on at least 1 AAA project shipped in a technical voice design role.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced understanding and experience of UE5, Blueprints, Wwise and technical audio systems.
  • Advanced audio control logic design & scripting ability.
  • Strong knowledge of DAWs such as Pro Tools and Reaper, as well as sample editors and plug-ins.
  • Strong understanding of theoretical and practical audio engineering principles & techniques.
  • Highly detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to embrace change for a fast-growing organization.
  • Ability to partner with a diverse group of personalities effectively and constructively.
  • The ability to problem-solve and prioritize issues while developing a production pipeline.
  • Mature outlook on work ethics and responsibilities.

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:

Colorado: $70,000 and $145,000 per year
California: $90,000 and $170,000 per year
New York State (inclusive of New York City): $90,000 and $170,000 per year
Washington: $70,000 and $145,000 per year

Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 14 paid holidays per calendar year, are eligible to earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation leave per year (subject to proration based on start date during the calendar year) and will receive 10 sick days per calendar year. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
