TLDR: Further development of the Knuddels Chat Community

You will be part of Knuddels, Europe's largest chat community. You will further develop our platform where hundreds of thousands of people meet daily, get to know each other, and build deep human relationships. Our vision "Through Knuddels, everyone playfully finds important people for real life" is what we all work towards.

TLDR: Product improvements for the community

Knuddels is a social community based on democratic rules and the possibility of co-creation and self-realization. For example, over 2000 members volunteer as moderators. Who these are is determined every 2 months by our members in democratic elections. You will further develop this system together with Community Management and implement resulting improvements that make coexistence in the community more pleasant and safer, so that Knuddels becomes a feel-good place for everyone.

TLDR: Product development from A to Z

You will be involved in projects early on in goal setting and conception. This allows you to build a holistic understanding and make your work much more successful and effective. In addition to dedicated team members and a warm working atmosphere, you also have the opportunity to solve real community problems with AI-powered software development: from automatic content moderation to intelligent recommendations and flirt functions that playfully bring people together.

Your tasks

• You use your knowledge in Java + SpringBoot (backend) and Typescript + React or Svelte (frontend) to expand Knuddels with functions that become even better through AI and clever algorithms, so that people on the platform:
• can get to know each other (e.g., suggest friends with recommender systems)
• have good conversations with each other (e.g., generate conversation starters with AI)
• have a good time (e.g., automatically block trolls via Machine Learning)
• can express emotions (e.g., send roses)
• feel safe (e.g., check images for inappropriate content with AI)
• can play together (e.g., play quizzes)
• can realize and contribute themselves (e.g., election system for volunteer moderation)
• Actively shape the rules and mechanisms by which our community functions.
• You work in a versatile, motivated team consisting of other software developers, community managers, and UX designers – and bring in your desire for AI-powered product development.

Job Requirements

• You have solid knowledge in all aspects of Java and have already implemented larger projects in this language.
• You have experience in TypeScript and React or Svelte.
• You have a completed degree in business informatics, computer science, or training with corresponding practical experience.
• You have a natural drive for good code quality and the best possible product.
• You have practical professional experience in developing web applications with agile methods.
• You work carefully, conscientiously, and self-organized.
• You are highly team-oriented and have very good German (min. C1 level) and English skills.
• You strive to continuously deepen your knowledge and have an intrinsic drive to understand things correctly.
• Are you already part of an online community? Not a must, but we think it's great.
• Have you even written code for an online community? That's absolutely fantastic :D
