The Role

Consumer Engineering continuously improves the Netflix experience to delight, attract, and retain our members. We’re responsible for much of what our members interact with when they use Netflix - from our streaming algorithms to our client and server playback systems to the UI our members use daily to find their next favorite Netflix title.

We are hiring for multiple roles across our TV and Web teams, which span product innovation and the infrastructure and capabilities powering product features. Specifically, we are for two types of roles: product engineers who want to make an impact by building product features and core engineers who drive impact primarily through technical innovation.

Product

Product engineers deliver novel product features on the consumer-facing Netflix experiences to help members discover and connect with . We partner with designers and product managers to define and refine concepts that will . Our work delights millions of members worldwide on hundreds of different devices, from streaming sticks to smart TVs to Web browsers.

Core

Core engineers are responsible for building client and UI capabilities and shepherding the architecture of our member apps. Our teams accelerate innovation to enable our product teams to deliver rich, performant, reliable, accessible, and high-quality member experiences. We sit at the intersection of Client Infrastructure and Product and we integrate and adopt the core technologies, frameworks, capabilities, and building blocks that enable our product teams to deliver thrilling experiences to our members.

Who You Are

  • Experience designing, building, and shipping consumer-facing software.

  • Experience leading projects and communicating with multiple cross-functional partners.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Able to design, architect, debug, test, and create well-documented code.

  • Able to identify and componentize common abstractions with an eye for performance and stability of large-scale systems.

  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • You strive to elevate the knowledge and skills of yourself and others in a way that fosters an inclusive, collaborative environment.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000. 

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
